History
Jahok was born to a minor House in a distant corner of Klingon space. A House comprised of comfortable diplomats and civil servants who lived by the culture of the planet than by Klingon tradition. Like many young members of this House, Jahok was offered the chance to leave home and train to become a warrior. To their surprise, he took up the offer. Jahok as a teen was far behind his peers in Klingon culture, both traditional and current. It made him a target for mockery and ridicule. He preserved in the face of this bullying. Marok son of Klann, an instructor at the warrior’s school, took Jahok under his wing and offered the young man a place in his House. Jahok, full of resentment for his House readily agreed. A decision he would regret later in his life.

After completing his Rite of Ascension, Jahok drifted from Klingon ship to Klingon ship until offered the chance to participate in an officer exchange with Starfleet. The exchange was an incredible and eye-opening experience. He found that he greatly enjoyed his time aboard a Starfleet vessel. For the first time, he was intellectually challenged. There, exploration and discovery were done for the sake of it and not for conquest. At the end of the program, Jahok submitted his resignation from the Klingon military and applied to Starfleet.

Jahok thrived in Starfleet and graduated from the Academy’s security program with honors and recognition. While serving on his second ship, the USS Zanzibar, he encountered fellow security officer T’rah, a Romulan refugee and single parent. Jahok and T’rah, from the moment they met, were bitter rivals. The two’s competitive streak and hate for one another was infamous among the Zanzibar crew. Many crew members were convinced the two would either kill each other or hook up. To their disappointment (and the disappointment of the betting pool) Jahok and T’rah took a third path. Years of competing and rivalry steadily built a foundation of respect, leading to a solid friendship.

Then, disaster. T’rah and several others died in a shuttlecraft explosion due to a flaw in the hull. It was senseless. The flaw should have been caught by the last engineer to service the vessel. Jahok had to be confined in the brig for several days due to rage and grief that compelled him to seek the rite of vengeance upon that engineer. Jahok would regret that he let his grief overwhelm him because it meant that he wasn’t there for the other person whose grief was as terrible and consuming as his own: T’rah’s son, Savoh. Savoh had no family besides his mother. Jahok adopted the boy, something he would have done even if T’rah had not left in her will that Savoh be placed in his care in the event of her death.

Jahok accepted another posting as COS aboard the USS Halcyon. He thought a move to a new ship would be best for himself and Savoh. For a time it was, but the cracks were beginning to show in Savoh. The boy began to act out, still clearly upset by the loss of his mother and unable to cope with the loss. Jahok tried to be there for Savoh, to give the boy the care and support he needed but his duties as COS severely cut from the the time Savoh needed. Jahok knew something had to give and he decided to give up his career in Starfleet. Between his years serving in the Klingon Military, Starfleet, and additional classes and trainings he undertook in the years between he was qualified for many civilian positions. He put in his application for the Direct or Spaceport and Orbital facilities at the Oed V Colony.
