Character Biography

Surra Ferrah Almikaz may come off as direct or assertive in certain situations, but she is a loyal colleague, attentive listener, and dedicated worker.

Born on the tourist planet Epsilon Ceti B II, also known as Risa, Surra was raised by her father, Ferrar Almikaz, after her mother, LumiDee, passed away when she was three. Despite her planetary origin, she spent her entire childhood in Tycho City on Luna. Her father, a civilian Systems Engineer duty officer working for StarFleet as a contractor, mentored her in the technology used by the Academy. Inspired by his guidance, she pursued higher education.

After graduating from high school, Surra was accepted into the prestigious Daystrom Institute of Technology, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Following a few years of experience in the civilian sector, she enrolled in the Starfleet Science Academy, earning her Master’s degree in the maintenance of information systems while minoring in bio-engineering. Tragically, shortly after graduating, her father passed away in a shuttle accident while traveling from Luna to Earth. Coping with grief, she sold her childhood home and returned to San Francisco to join Starfleet as an officer.

Recognizing the impact of her personal journey and the importance of mental health, Surra decided to pursue Psychiatry and Counseling at the Academy. Discovering her natural aptitude for the field, she transitioned into becoming Dr. Surra Almikaz, D.O., L.P.C. She earned her degree in Osteopathic Medicine and obtained a counseling license. During her DO residency, she actively assisted the Federation and Starfleet in treating and evaluating their personnel before, during, and after their service. Additionally, she played a key role in creating a preventive treatment program, promoting optimal health practices for both the body and mind. Through her exceptional listening skills and thorough research, she has consistently demonstrated the ability to accurately diagnose cadets and crewmen with debilitating psychological conditions, providing effective solutions to help them overcome their challenges.

Physical Description:
Surra possesses thick, jet black, spiral curly hair that extends to the middle of her back. She often keeps it parted on the left or tied up in a high ponytail. Her brown skin complements her brown eyes. Maintaining an athletic physique, she actively participates in various sports, including water polo, volleyball, racquetball, and her favorite, parrises squares. Notably, Surra is ambidextrous, proficiently utilizing both hands for tasks such as writing, wielding her phaser, swinging a racquet, or catching a ball.

Medical History:
Surra has fortunately not experienced any major illnesses or severe injuries. However, she has encountered occasional instances of alcohol poisoning. During her internship at a Federation Station on Psi 2000, she once contracted the Polywater intoxication syndrome, which promptly required her confinement to sickbay for treatment. Genetic testing has revealed Surra’s ancestral makeup to be 45% Risan, 30% Human, and 25% Vulcan. Her father was 50% human and 50% Vulcan, her mother 90% Risian and 10% human. Surra was raised human so she identifies as human but does embrace her Vulcan and Risian heritage as well.
