Character Biography

Born on Ferenginar around the time that interaction between the Ferengi Alliance and the Federation were becoming more normalized, Daneg was from a family that was successful, but not wealthy enough to be influential. He eventually rose to serve under a Daimon as the chief technology officer. After the Dominion War, as relations with the Federation and the Alliance became normalized, Daneg, as a young Ferengi, recognized that he didn’t have “the lobes” to be successful on his own. None of his skills, which were all in the realm of starship maintenance, were something which he could figure how to make profitable. When he learned of Nog’s enrollment of Starfleet, he became intrigued by the prospect. He applied for entry into Starfleet Academy as a non-member candidate, and passed the acceptance evaluation ahead of four other candidates.

He slowly made his way through the Academy, getting a reputation as someone with Engineering skill, and eventually graduated in the top ten percent of his whole class, and the top three percent of his chosen specialty (Science and Medical officers had dominated the rankings during Daneg’s years at the Academy, so even the top Engineering graduate was only in the top five percent overall). He went on to a fairly standard career as a Starfleet Engineer, being recognized for his capabilities and recommended for advancement by his superiors. He eventually was recommended for a role as Department Head.
