Character Biography

Background:
Aiofemi Tamika Oshiro and her brother, Zacharias Hachirō Oshiro, were born and raised aboard the USS Majestic. Aiofemi’s birthdate is May 11. Sadly, when she was an infant, her father, Hoshi, who served as Chief of Security on the USS Majestic, lost his life during an away mission. He ingested a poisonous felodesine chip, which had devastating consequences. Following Hoshi’s death, their mother Imani, a dedicated Starfleet officer, became a single parent and continued her work as a medical officer (nurse) aboard the Majestic.

At the age of 10, Aiofemi experienced a traumatic event when the Majestic was destroyed in battle. Alongside her brother, who was 15 at the time, she narrowly escaped with a few surviving crew members. Their mother, always committed to her duties, stayed behind to aid the wounded and tragically perished with the ship.

As the children of fallen Starfleet officers who died in the line of duty, Aiofemi and Zacharias found support from Starfleet, which took care of their well-being. They were fostered by Sidiq, a distinguished Vulcan officer, and his family, including his wife T’Miri and their two sons, Sampson and Sanzi. Sidiq had previously served as Hoshi’s commanding officer and had developed a close friendship with their family.

Aiofemi and Zacharias were embraced as members of Sidiq’s family and were raised by them throughout their remaining childhood. Aiofemi, driven by curiosity and a desire to understand her new family, learned to speak Vulcan and familiarized herself with certain dialects of Romulan. While the family didn’t strictly adhere to traditional Vulcan customs, Aiofemi absorbed their teachings and practices.

After completing primary school, Aiofemi pursued her education at Starfleet Medical Academy. She focused her studies on Medicine/Surgery, Xenobiology, and Astrobiology. Her decision to enter the medical field was a tribute to her late mother, and she dedicated herself to her studies for four years as a nurse before advancing to the role of doctor. During her time aboard the USS Honshu, where she served as a doctor, Aiofemi met her husband, a half Human/Klingon physician. They exchanged vows in an informal ceremony on the Honshu, but unfortunately, their marriage lasted less than a year, resulting in Aiofemi becoming a one-time divorcee without any children.

Following the dissolution of her marriage, Aiofemi transferred to the USS Endeavour, where she worked for two years before being promoted to the position of Chief Medical Officer. She fulfilled this role for three years until an opportunity arose for her to become the Medical Director on OED V. After careful consideration, she accepted the offer, realizing that this position would allow her to expand medical access for the citizens, advocate for comprehensive benefits for medical professionals at Sacred Heart Hospital, and collaborate with the Governor and Lt. Governor of OED V. While this role took her into the realm of politics, which she hadn’t initially envisioned in her career, it provided her with the chance to make a difference beyond direct patient care and support those skilled in providing medical services.

Other Skills:
Aiofemi’s linguistic abilities extend beyond Vulcan and Romulan. She is also fluent in Klingon and possesses conversational skills in High Orion. Her diverse language skills allow her to connect with a wide range of individuals across different cultures and species.

Family:
Family holds a special place in Aiofemi’s heart, particularly her brother Zacharias. Zacharias pursued his passion for genetics at the Science Academy, where their younger adopted brother Sanzi also attended and studied the same field. Both Zacharias and Sanzi currently serve as esteemed educators at the Science Academy.

Their older brother, Sampson, followed a different path and enrolled in Starfleet Academy, specializing in aerodynamics. He now holds the esteemed position of Chief of Engineering aboard the USS Yolja. Aiofemi cherishes her bond with her family and often takes the opportunity to visit them during her shore leave in San Francisco and in between her missions.

Appearance:
Aiofemi possesses not only a captivating intellect but also a graceful appearance. She takes great care of her well-maintained figure and is often admired for her beauty. Her caramel brown skin tone carries a touch of warmth, with a few freckles adorning the bridge of her nose. She boasts thick, shoulder-length, jet black, loopy curly hair that adds to her unique charm. Her slightly slanted eyes, revealing her Japanese ancestry from her biological father’s side, hold an almost black hue.
