Character Biography

Appearance:
Eulailia has a medium brown skin tone with deep dark eyes lined with naturally long lashes. She has dimples in both cheeks. Her natural hair is black, coily springy curls, shoulder-length. For convenience, she often wears her hair in waist-length braids that are about one in width. Everyone’s first impression of her is that she is perfect. She has the perfect figure, face, hair, teeth, smile, eyes, even hands, and nails. This is despite her parents swearing that she was not genetically enhanced or altered during/after conception.
Her travels across the universe have exposed her to some disgusting animals that beings sometimes ate for food, so she is a vegan, only eating veggies and other natural foods except when it comes from the food replicator. On her first ship assignment, she had trouble adjusting to food from the replicator but was eventually able to grow accustomed to it.

Background:
Eulailia “Laila” Thuryi Dacascos was born on Earth, in San Francisco, and is the only daughter of a Starfleet Admiral, Eugene Dacascos and a UFOP Diplomat Lailia (Thuryi) Dacascos. She did not have a hard life growing up. In fact, it was a little too sheltered and convenient. Her parents were in their early 50s we they decided they were at the point in their life they wanted a child. Advanced technology ensured that Eulailia’s mother was able to conceive and carry her to term. They knew she would be their only offspring, so she was always protected and carefully looked after.
Her parents traveled around the Universe frequently and Eulailia often lived on multiple planets, starbases, and outposts in one Earth year. This has made her culturally fluent and able to understand most languages even though she still can’t really speak them well. Under the watchfulness and protection of her parents and their security detail, she flourished in a high-quality lifestyle that included an education in diplomacy, political strategies, and governmental edicts. Her mother, because of the frequent travel, took time to ensure she was always properly immunized and had the best medical care. Growing up she had nannies, bodyguards, and her own Federation Security escort when she traveled with her parents. This hindered her from having a healthy interaction with other kids when was finally allowed to interact with them, even other Federation kids. They quickly learned that she was just too annoying to be around because whenever she fell or got injured while playing, she would lay there and cry until her nanny (who was never too far away) ran to her aid, picked her up, and tended to her “wounds” or if someone did something mischievous, she was the first one to run and tell. As a result, she had gained a reputation as the “crybaby” or the “tattletale”. The other kids started to isolate themselves from her leaving her to be the outcast. Of course, as she got older, she learned how to fit in more by going with the flow of things. She learned not to be too whiny and definitely not to be the snitch who took everyone down.
To her parents, she was always considered a “golden child” and when she was in her protected world, she was happy, focused, and ambitious. Her favorite moments were with her father, who would let her help him work by completing small tasks like transmitting meeting data or proofing and editing edicts when she was older. When given a task her father explained to her the importance of seeing it through to the end no matter the outcome and this is where she learned her work ethic. Other than these occasional tasks, Eulailia never felt pressure to work hard from her parents she was expected to be their little girl and accompany each of them on their trips so they could show her off and be a representation of her parents’ unity and bond. However, when she joined Starfleet, she gained a strong sense of justice and begin to understand why chains of command existed.
She enrolled in Starfleet to finally wiggle from the grasp of her parents and gain independence. Having trouble initially with her academy training, her ambitious “can do” attitude would not allow her to throw in the white flag and she persevered, graduating from the Academy, and then getting her first assignment on the USS Discovery as a yeoman, an information/communications officer on the bridge, Chief Information Officer and finally as the Chief of Operations on the Asimov. Eulailia is a mostly “think before she act” personality type. She often overthinks situations which she thinks has saved her from a lot of bad choices.
Eulailia would not be considered to be particularly smart, but she does ask a lot of questions to ensure that gives the right assessment in situations where she is required to provide guidance or make a decision. What she lacks as far as academic achievements she makes up for with common sense, social skills, and strategic thinking. She is the person you would want to negotiate the terms with a perpetrator or be the interrogator because of her ability to quickly pick up on and accurately define behavior from beings such as facial expressions, voice tones, and body movements. Her mother once told her, “Although you were not given an academically gifted brain you were given other abilities. I am not talking about your pretty face, but your precise ability to read people, non-verbal movements, and that, my beautiful perfect girl, is how you are going to make it because in this Universe, tmfull of different beings, looks no longer matter.”

Personality:
She cares what people think about her and if someone dislikes her she will try to figure out why and how to fix it. This comes from her parents being important representatives in Starfleet and the Federation. She has always felt it was her duty to represent herself as the daughter of an ambassador or admiral. Even so, she expects to be treated according to the level of respect her rank would require, whether she is a yeoman, Ensign, or Lieutenant Commander.

Fun Fact:
Eulailia is related to Surra Almikaz (3rd cousins) through her maternal bloodline and Najma Moreino (2nd cousins) through her paternal bloodline.
