Norb, of Klaxut Markets

Character Biography

Physical Description: Wrinkled, squat, a little heavy due to a good stream of steady latinum with which to buy rich food. Sharp-toothed, bald, and wrinkled (except for his surgically-smoothed lobes), Norb looks like a typical Ferengi of his age. He generally wears a white or tan linen suit and straw hat to give the appearance of professionalism and casuality.

History: Norb comes from a family of merchants–many smugglers and some lawyers. They own a chain of department stores and merchant ships, started by his great-grandfather, called Klaxut Markets, which means “Don’t Touch Anything” Markets in English. With very high levels of security, customers interact with the merchandise–generally high end home goods and accessories from around the galaxy–via holodeck until latinum changes hands and they own the item.

When he was a lobeling, he began selling painted rocks to other children in school. His love of minerals grew until he became the head jeweler for the family business–handling the purchase, selling, and manufacturing of all Klaxut jewelry and gemstone items across the franchise, which offered him the opportunity to dip into some shady dealings on occasion.

Over the years, he has captained and crewed 3 different Klaxut Marketships while serving as their manager. His current store, the Golden Klaxut Market, is a new deluxe space with two levels of shopping. His family lives in the “penthouse” suite.

When he was 30, he married his wife, Tishi, who was 5 years his junior, and five years later, they had one son, Zrack (27), who is also in the business. Zrack spends much of his time on his ship, the Golden Klaxut Marketship, but the family all lives in Oed V full-time in a multi-generational household that includes Norb, his wife and their son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, Zizi (3).

Other Friendships:
When Norb was visiting the Catian planet of Feresa to set up a Golden Klaxut location in the capital city, Norb was charmed by a young Catian orphan, Mown Gworl, who he enrolled in school with Zrack until the boy was of age to care for himself. Mown Gworl is serving aboard the USS Leviathan as CTO.
