General Overview: Carsyn is the daughter of a Starfleet NCO, who is also one of a hand full of living enlisted to receive the Starfleet Medal of Honor. Her mother is outdoor and travel journalist. She turned down an appointment to Starfleet and instead decided to pursue a journalist degree at Northwestern University, Illinois. She graduated with a master’s degree and specialized in both Investigative and Politics/Policy/Foreign Affairs. After graduating she has been hired by FNN as a reporter, bouncing around the known area of the galaxy on assignment.

Personal History: Carsyn is the youngest of two children born to William H. Pitsenbarger and Catalina Bandi. She was conceived on Starbase 844 but was born in Piqua, Ohio, as her father had been reassigned to a Starfleet personnel only starship. Shortly after her birth her mother filed for divorce from her father, unable to bear the burden of being a spouse to a Starfleet crewmember. Carsyn had a natural gift for language and writing. She was encouraged in these endeavors by both her parents, as well as her teachers. She was a rising star pupil who was advanced a few grades in her education. She would graduate high school at the age of sixteen summa cum laude. She then applied and was accepted to Northwestern University where she studied both Journalism and Linguistics and Orthography. She graduated magna cum laude with a master’s degree in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Orthography. She was then accepted to the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she got her PhD. in Journalism Studies. After graduation she joined the Federation News Service as an investigative reporter. She started her career on Starbase 214 covering stories of the Breen Pirates, and the Tzenketh incursions into Federation space. She was later reassigned as a political analysis reporter and covered the politics of Betazed. She was then reassigned back to Earth to cover political and military matters in regard to Star Fleet. She broke a major story that embarrassed Starfleet Starfighter Corps when she revealed that a wing commander, Colonel Diana Lantz was having an affair with one of her subordinates, Major Zephyrine R. Bolt; while still married to Vice Admiral Aaron Lantz. With the scandal and publicity surrounding it, Carsyn’s boss Samuel Oedekoven felt it was best she be reassigned. Realizing they no longer had a Federation News Service office or reporters on Oed V, it was decided to send Carsyn Alice Kolchak to Oed V to reestablish and open up the office of the Federation News Service and report on the happenings on Oed V and surrounding space.
