Character Biography

Jasper grew up mere steps from the gates of Starfleet Academy, his father being an instructor and his mother a scientist with Daystrom Institute, who often gave lectures at the Academy.

Because of this, Jasper always knew he wanted to join Starfleet. But what he never knew, was which path to go. He considered his father’s specialty of Engineering, but he was horrible at putting things back together so they’d work, even with a diagram or guide to do so. And he found out he didn’t have his mother’s aptitude for science. He did love medicine, however. He would, on occasion, attend his mother’s lectures, and sometimes there would be others there as well to lecture, and the doctors were the ones who he always paid the most attention to.

Once he turned 18, he immediately enrolled in Starfleet Academy. He quickly took to the medical classes, though he lagged behind in general education and other classes. By the time he reached graduation, he’d eeked by, merely with the help of a medical instructor, a Vulcan by the name of Jaryk. He’d become like a mentor to Jasper, who credits him with helping him not just in his educational work, but also in his work ethic.

He took quickly to medical school, and the next 4 years blew by. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the USS Manhattan
