Physical:
Rico is one of the noticeable security men, the type who works hard, plays hard and spends time in the gym bulking up. He could be considered ruggedly good looking in the old fashioned sense. He keeps his hair short which is more a reflection of his function over appearance values, his physique is not to increase his attractiveness, but more because he knows that with a small team on the Ogawa, every member must be capable of looking after themselves in a fight and he leads by example. He has striking ice green eyes, is seldom seen clean shaven as he prefers a tidy stubble.

On his chest and back, he sports three noticeable scars that quite clearly pierced both sides of his body, one only missing his heart by centimeters. These are trophies of an event in his past, that he decided to leave instead of getting them surgically removed.

Personality:
Like most Security types, Rico is confident and believes in his ability to handle a situation. Where he differs in his level of planning and thought, and his readiness to accept unorthodox methods or move to a new plan if one in motion isn’t working out. He can be sarcastic, and have a scathing criticism when things are done wrong but, he also is quick to forget and move on, unless it is his own mistake.

Education & Family:
Rico came through school fairly well, and had enough achievements and success to be accepted into Starfleet Academy when he left school. Always better in sports and the physical classes, he nevertheless had a keen mind for the sciences. He is the youngest of four children, the older three being his Sisters who have always had a protective eye on their younger brother.

Interests:
Sports of many kinds, he can often be found off duty in the holodeck. He enjoys camping, tramping and hunting, and getting away from civilization. Rico is a talented guitar player who also has a practiced voice for song. One of his previous partners, a woman named Rosie, owned a bar where the two of them often played together.

Medical:
During a mission in 2392, Lieutenant Rico Vanhall was seriously injured in the line of duty. While on a mission to rescue captives of an illegal slave smuggling ring, he became separated from his team when he attempted to double back and disengage a force field barrier that had trapped the rescued captives from being transported to the U.S.S. Wyvern while the rest of his unit gave them covering fire until he could complete his task.

Unfortunately, the resistance from the smugglers was far heavier and more prepared than expected. His team were all killed or mortally wounded defending themselves and the captives, and Rico had been ambushed by a group of smugglers who, after a short and viscous hand to hand fight, had stabbed Rico multiple times causing life threatening injuries. Succeeding in neutralizing the smugglers that attacked him, Rico was able to lower the force field just as he collapsed into darkness. When he awoke, he was aboard the Wyvern, which had beamed the captives and the team aboard the moment the field was dropped. Rico was the only survivor of his unit and was in recovery for some time.

Relationships:
Rico is currently in a relationship with Lieutenant Allison Scott, a Doctor on board the Ogawa.

2384 - Graduated Starfleet Academy (Ensign, Security), Assigned to U.S.S. Minsc
2387 - Promoted to Lt (j.g) and Assistant CoS on the U.S.S. Minsc
2389 - promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to U.S.S. Wyvern as CoS
2390 - Assigned as Chief Tactical Officer aboard the U.S.S. Wyvern
2392 - U.S.S. Wyvern heavily damaged in battle, dry docked for repairs.
2392 - Critically injured while on a mission, receiving multiple stab wounds in the line of duty
2392 - Assigned as Chief Tactical Officer aboard the U.S.S. Saracen on recovery from injuries
2393 - Assigned to the U.S.S. Ogawa as Chief of Security
2394 - Present
