Character Biography

Adrian was born in the small town of Debuke, Iowa in 2364. Much of his childhood was normal, until his mother, a civilian Intelligence operative for Starfleet Intelligence, was killed on an operation, when he was 10.

From that day, Intelligence has always been involved in his life. From shuffling him and his father, Damien, around the Federation for protection from his mother’s enemies, to rescuing him out of some sticky situations when the family was ultimately tracked down.

In July of 2379, months before his 15th birthday, Adrian was invited to be an Admiral’s aide at Starfleet Academy. Taking the offer allowed him to begin some of his basic classes (such as the math, science, etc taught to all cadets their first two years) early, enabling him, 3 years later, to start ahead of much of his peers.

This would prove beneficial, as, despite the influence Intelligence had on his life, Adrian chose to stay very far away from them. Instead originally intending to go Medical instead. Thanks to his two-year advantage on his classmates, Adrian lost no time in getting out into the fleet–and into trouble.

Despite his desire to stay away from intelligence, he was wrangled in when his first assignment, the USS Vesta, encountered a spacial anomaly that transported them halfway across the Gamma quadrant. The crew, working with highly classified information stolen from various sources, managed to get home fairly quickly.

By the end of that assignment 4 years later, Adrian was well and truly engulfed in Intelligence, and had been forcibly transferred. Then everything went awry.

Leading up an Intelligence operation in which his team was to infiltrate an enemy ship, Adrian was unprepared for a possible intel leak.

The leak, coming from one of his own men, lead to almost all of them getting killed, and, had Adrian not acted fast, he would have succumbed to his own injuries as well.

After this failure of a mission, Adrian resigned (against the wishes of about every admiral who knew him) to a house on an isolated Federation colony.

For approximately 4 years, Adrian stayed on this colony, working as a doctor and helping everyone who needed it, using his experience from Starfleet. In 2391, the colony experienced one of it’s tri-yearly visits from Starfleet with more supplies and a request for Adrian. He was asked to return to Starfleet, not in an Intelligence capacity, but as a security officer. Many of his skills from his Intelligence training overlapped with security, leading to a quick return, if he accepted.

Initially he declined, fearful of what Hawkins would reveal when he found out his pawn was no longer complacent to him. But then the captain of the ship revealed that the year prior, Hawkins had been caught in his corruption and court martialed. With this revelation, Adrian agreed to return, but only if he was given a year to prepare the colony for his departure.

Sure enough, a year later, Adrian Bradshaw returned to Starfleet. Initially, due to the events of his past, he was stationed for a few years at Starfleet Academy in the role of Academy security. But, after he proved to be (mostly) mentally stable, he was assigned to the USS Ogawa in 2399.

[The below is classified events from Adrian’s past]
In 2384, shortly after his assignment to the USS Vesta, Adrian was in charge of treating several patients. After one of them proceeded to insult Starfleet, Adrian, in anger, caused the patient’s death by a combination of negligence and intentional malpractice. The CO of this assignment, then-captain James Hawkins, was one of many officers involved in Intelligence aboard the ship.

To this end, Hawkins, seeing the usefulness in this, and also knowing of Adrian’s actions, or inaction in this case, pulled the younger man to the side, and convinced him to continue his efforts (under Hawkins’s direction) with promises this event would be covered up. Adrian reluctantly agreed, and throughout the assignment and journey back in the Gamma Quadrant, certain patients Hawkins told him to kill, would die.

In 2388, at the end of the assignment of the Vesta, Adrian was transferred into Intelligence officially (against his wishes). For two years he would lead a team of 7 (including himself) on various intelligence operations. The team quickly became fast friends and worked well together, including a Betazoid by the name of Gemil Taxe, who was secretly a freelance agent for various alien enemies of the Federation. At this time he was masquerading (through clever advanced genetic modifications) as the human Garret Henderson. But, using his telepathic abilities and hiding PADDs on his person for note taking, he would leak information to the enemy.

To this end, when the team had infiltrated an enemy ship and was posing as crew to disable it, Henderson telepathically spoke to one of the crew members, giving him all the information he knew. This would lead to a near complete wipe out of the team, as the enemy would reveal they knew and kill 6 of the 7 members of the team (including “Henderson”). Adrian was severely injured and would have been killed or captured had he not activated a hidden transporter beacon to get them beamed out by the Starfleet vessel that had been quietly tailing the infiltrated ship.

It was during post-mortem examinations that the subterfuge of Henderson was discovered, and the dots were connected. Devastated that he missed such a huge red flag, Adrian resigned.
