Back Story
Navale grew up in the shantytown around the capitol of Coridan. This was a poor area where work was hard to find and luxury was scarcely seen, until visitors came and the government wanted to make sure they were all treated equally. They were always provided necessities but luxury wasn’t a priority. Navale learned to get by on her own. Her father died in a mining accident when she was 4 and her mother took a job doing basic labor in the shipyards. The pay was…decent, but the hours were long and the work hard. Navale occupied her time tinkering with odds and ends that were thrown out because they were broken and no one who knew how to fix them had the time to come down to the shantytown to fix it.
Navale snuck into the ship yards to show her mother a piece that had been damaged that she had repaired. By chance Navale encountered the Chief of Star Fleet Engineers, from the Star Fleet Corp of Engineers when her mother ordered her home. This encounter set the 10 year old Navale on a much different path than her life had been. One where she would have the opportunity to train her innate understanding of machinery into skills to be reckoned with.
Navale graduated the top of her class and spent the first four years aboard a small scientific cruiser before her application for the Star Fleet Corp of Engineers was accepted. She spent the next six years working on special projects, until she decided she wanted to do something more. To see how her work contributed directly to those around her, rather than simply tinkering with theories and ideas. She put in for reassignment and was transferred to the premier hospital ship of the fleet, the USS Ogawa
