Rh'vaurek Deletham

Character Biography

Born on Romulus to a father who was often away with the Navy, and a mother who was a well respected business woman, Rh’vaurek’s first plan in life was not following his father, however, a chain of circumstances lead to his joining the Navy at age 18.

The first, was when he was 16, his father’s ship was destroyed in a border skirmish with some pirates. There were no survivors, and all Rh’vaurek got were well wishes, a copy of his father’s personnel record, and the emotional anguish that came with the disaster. As he worked through these emotions, he grew more and more disenfranchised with the Empire, and briefly thought about leaving.

Then, something else happened. Rh’vaurek was visited by one of his father’s former Commanders, inviting the boy (now 17) to tour the Imperial Navy’s new academy wing, named for the elder Deletham. This wing, a new medical facility, was dedicated not only to furthering the Empire as usual, but also to the program his father had started, with special training to emulate the environment one would encounter on a warbird.

Despite his plans to remain planet-bound, Rh’vaurek had always planned to follow his father’s medical footsteps. But, getting to see the new wing of the academy, and how his father’s work had been put to use, started to make the young man consider his options again. As he began getting closer to his 18th birthday, he made his decision. He’d join the Navy as a doctor. He could bring his expertise to distant colonies and stations, helping people far to the borders of the Empire.

It was a long three years in the academy, but he managed to get through it and before he knew it, Rh’vaurek was a doctor. His first assignment was rather uneventful, a posting on a station on the fringe of the Empire. The most excitement he got was when a ship brought a group of refugees who were suffering from plasma burns.

Four years later, he was promoted to Chief of Medical Control and assigned to a warbird. It was still a relatively mediocre posting, with little combat. The most injuries he treated were from electrical relays exploding or people falling down. On occasion there might be a small disagreement that rendered someone with more severe injuries, but still nothing spectacular.

Then, in his fourth year aboard the warbird, they were reassigned to combat duty, on the forefront of the Empire’s interests, and, with this, came a promotion for Rh’vaurek. Now he was a Subcenturion and the chief of Medical Control. One step closer to the rank his father was at his death. Shortly thereafter, during their first large-scale combat encounter, Rh’vaurek showed he inherited his father’s tenacity when it came to crunch time.

Barking out orders like it was second nature, Rh’vaurek was getting the walking wounded to a point they could go back to work, leaving the medical bay for those too injured to walk. This was his first taste of what would really exist in the Empire’s vast fleet, and he enjoyed it immensely.

Ten years later, at the age of 39, Rh’vaurek received his long-awaited promotion to the rank of Subcommander, and with it, the opportunity to take the command course at the academy. After the toughest year of his life, he finally got his first assignment as a subcommander, and learned the ins and outs of a Warbird’s command structure.

It’s been 6 years since then, and he’s only just recently been given command of the Keldrak-class IRW Rovarran.
