Physical Description:
Drangon Cull is a large specimen of the Xindi-Reptillian (XR) species. Standing almost seven feet in height and weighing close to five hundred pounds, Drangon is an intimidating figure to say the least. He possess the typical Xindi-Reptillian features: brown-colored scales with multiple spikes coming out of his heads and lsmall tusks, one on either side of the face, protruding from close to his mouth. Yellow eyes with slitted vertical pupils, Drangon has the typical XR ability to see a large range of thermal signatures. Like all XR, Drango is cold blooded. Like other Xindi, he has characteristic facial features, these represented by a small indentation and a series of little bumps on their cheek bones.
Medical History:
Subject possesses extreme the comparatively extreme physical strength and stamina his species. Highly resistant to physical damage. Immune to Type II Phaser Stun setting.s and comparable input.
Psychological History:
Cull is of above normal intelligence for his species, yet retains the aggressiveness of the XR. This is tempered somewhat by his tolerance for other species and his total commitment to the ideals and code of the SF Marine Corps.
Cull possesses a much larger capacity for patience than most XR, but that patience can be limited when Cull is dealing with ‘busy work’.
A true ‘lead from the front’ type of Officer, Cull has developed a well-earned reputation as a fair and trusted leader; although that perspective shifts when looked at through a non-Marine Corps lens.
Biography:
The first record of the being known as Drangon Cull was a mention in a Klingon After-Action report. A Xindi ship had been attacked by unknown own forces when the Klingon ship Kr’llek arrived and destroyed the attackers. Survivors of the Xindi ship were few, but among them was an egg which soon hatched a Xindi-Reptillian male.
The Klingons had no use of a small, bipedal lizard and were going to space it with the rest of the trash when a Star Fleet officer, part of an exchange program, reminded them that the ‘lizard’ was a sentient being with full rights. The officer took the Xindi hatchling with him when he left the program, and turned the hatchling over to Federation Social Services.
Drangon was placed in multiple foster homes, but his innate aggression and hostility made finding him a lasting home difficult at best. Over the next ten years, he was moved from foster care to juvenile detention, back and forth, time and again. It wasn’t until he was twelve years old that things changed for him.
After a four-month stint in juvenile detention for Assault, Drangon was placed in a home with Gloria and T’Vek Rosario. The two women were adamant they could handle the problem youth, and their inter-species relationship (Gloria was half-Human and half- Deltan, T’Vek was Vulcan) gave them an edge in accepting the now large and very reptilian humanoid. The first day Drangon arrived, he scoffed that the two smaller women would be able to stop him from running away, and as he turned to the door after the Social Worker left, he found himself suddenly and painfully on his back with a boot on his throat.
It was Gloria.
T’Vek walked slowly over and looked down at Drangon. They explained that they only took in troubled youth… because they knew and understood what some need. She then explained that Gloria and herself were not just foster parents… they were both Star Fleet Marines.
For the next few months, things were very tense. Drangon pushed boundaries, and was (sometimes literally) smacked down for it. He raged, and once even fully tried to attack T’Vek. He got a broken arm for his troubles, which Gloria fixed. It wasn’t an abusive home, however. It was actually filled with love and compassion. And slowly, over the course of several years, Drangon began to change.
He was still extremely aggressive. And as he grew, he became incredibly strong. But his aggression was now focused. He no longer lashed out at anything that made him angry. He channeled it into sparring with his foster mothers and sports at his school. That focus even spilled over into his studies. In addition to excelling in multiple sports, Drangon was a scholastic over-achiever as well; and it showcased a cunning and deep intelligence that no one had seen in him before.
The year before he graduated from high school, Gloria and T’Vek formally adopted Drangon. It was a singular turning point in his life. He had a home… a family that loved and cared for him and truly wanted him to succeed. With a firm realization of where he had started, and a firm grasp of where he was now, Drangon made a vow to himself: his life woukd be a testament to the two women who made him what he was. And nothing would stop him from honoring them with everything he did.
Upon his graduation, Drangon received over a dozen scholarship offers- both academic and athletic- from some of the most prestigious institutions of higher education in the Federation. He did carefully consider each offer… and then he enlisted in the Star Fleet Marines. Gloria was beside herself with joy, and even T’Vek congratulated him on a bold choice. Bidding farewell to his mothers, he left the only home he had known and traveled to the Marine Academy in San Francisco.
His time at the Academy was well spent. He was a model recruit and took to the culture as naturally as breathing. Graduating with high marks, he was assigned to 3rd Batallion 6th Marines and was made a Squad Leader soon after. His career would continue in a strong upwards trajectory; eventually earning him a field commission to Officer.
The Marines, always ahead of the curve at recognizing talent and potential, saw those traits in Drangon in exponential levels. Any task or mission put in front of him he completed with a level of dedication and efficiency (and sometimes utter brutality) that was astounding to Marine leadership. Special Forces training intensified his capabilities and soon he was not only a consumate war-fighter; he was a leader that garnered respect and dedication from his troops. Drangon developed a reputation as one of the hardest commanders in the Corps. And he went out of his way to recruit problematic Marines, ones with stacks of disciplinary actions against them, and turn them into stellar Marines. He didn’t always succeed, but his success rate was FAR above average.
His current command is that of the 1st Marine Raider Battalion; a Special Forces unit comprised of Marines hand-picked by Drangon himself. Their mission is a complex one: in addition to conducting normal expeditionary unit relief, rescue, and combat operations; Raiders are specially trained to train, advise, and assist friendly host nation forces - including naval, maritime, and space-based military and paramilitary forces - to enable them to support their governments’ internal security and stability; and to counter subversion and to reduce the risk of violence from internal and external threats. The Batallion is currently deployed on the USS Chimera as their ground forces contingent.
