Physical Description: Arthur has tanned light skin, dark brown hair, and light amber eyes. He is fairly thin, and his face is typically fixed in a somewhat absent-minded smile.

Psychological Profile: Arthur Flynn is certainly a scientist at heart. He wholeheartedly jumps into any endeavors and research that pique his curiosity, and while this has gotten him in minor trouble a few times, it is on the whole a beneficial trait. Arthur is very relaxed and informal to the extent possible, considering those under his command friends and colleagues first, and subordinates second. He often can be found socializing with his crewmates during his off-hours. He is also very upbeat and optimistic, and intentionally tries to stay a source of positivity even in dire situations, although this can take a toll on his energy, and, long-term, mental health.

History: Arthur Flynn grew up in a Starfleet family, spending most of his childhood and teenage years on various starships and starbases. This naturally helped to nurture his curiosity and drive to learn more, and nobody was surprised when he applied to Starfleet Academy after high school. He excelled in scientific courses, preferring the classes that dealt with theoretical mechanics and ideas of what might be, rather than what was known to be. After his graduation, Arthur was posted to the Euclid, a small science ship that primarily dealt with things well within Federation territory. While he did well aboard, before long he felt the urge to deal with more completely unknown concepts, and the newly minted Lt. JG Flynn requested a transfer to a deep-space explorer. There were none at the time with openings for a junior officer, but Arthur instead received an offer to join an advanced class in Astrophysics. He accepted this alternative, and spent the next year back at the Academy, acting as a TA for the standard science classes in his free time. After the conclusion of the course, he once again applied to deep-space ships, and was posted on the USS Goddard. After the ship’s mission concluded, he was offered a position as the USS Harper‘s CSO, which brought with it a promotion to full Lieutenant. He spent a while on the Harper, before eventually receiving an offer to join the crew of the USS Manhattan as the Chief Science Officer, along with a second promotion. Arthur, by this point one of the foremost physicists actively serving in Starfleet, jumped at the chance to work on the largest science ship in the Fleet, and packed his bags from the Harper.
