Copper based blood. Being Orion she needs UV light for energy that is processed by the chlorophyll in her blood. However her Deltan blood (iron based) allows her to consume food for energy as well. So she doesn’t suffer the lethargy of most Orions while she is in space away from natural sunlight. Vashkilu does not require the use of stimulants like other Orions in order to stay awake longer. Growing up on Orion she follows the shorter Orion sleep cycles but does not require them as often as others. Like all Orion women, Vashkilu emits strong pheromones compared to other species. However, due to her mixed heritage, her pheromones are considered below average for Orion females.

She also carries the potent pheromones of her Deltan heritage. She can entice anyone, muddling them and confusing them, making them pliable to suggestions. The combination of Deltan and Orion pheromones can be quite deadly. Most of her victims remember being robbed with pleasure and happiness. Most don’t put up any resistance at all. Unlike most Deltan’s Vashkilu does not have the analgesic touch. She can, if she stays in physical contact, ease the pain of someone she is emotionally close to, but in a very limited way. She is quite proficient at inducing agony through the use of her pheromones.

Because of her Deltan heritage, Vashkilu’s senses are heightened and she is very susceptible to pain. Even minor injuries are agonizing, requiring high levels of painkillers to function until she has healed.

Back Story

Vashkilu was born of a Deltan mother and Orion father. Her mother was adventurous and was curious about the Orion people and their indulgence in pleasure. Deltan’s have a similar culture, but go about it in different ways. This foray led to a child that her mother wasn’t interested in raising. So she contacted the father, remembering he had mentioned the Orion people value their children, and sent the baby off to live with her father.

Vashikilu grew up with a mostly typical Orion childhood. It was true that Orions valued their children, but it was not expressed in a way that most other cultures would understand. The children were placed into slavery by age 10. Vashkilu entered at the age 7. Her father petitioned early and strongly to find her a benefactor that would appreciate her differences and potential. He found her a position, with a lesser house, but with a good reputation. They also had a reputation for taking the children no one wanted to train and making them outstanding merchants and assets to their families.

Serving her benefactor, Vashikilu gained an excellent education. Learning math, trade, hobbies, negotiation, weapons, fighting, reading, writing, diplomacy, and more. She was given clothes, her own room, food, down time, and even pay. At the age of 10, she joined her benefactor’s pirate ship. She did so well that by the age of 12, Vashikilu had done what no one else her age had done, she bought her own freedom. From there she purchased entrance to be trained in becoming an elite Orion courtesan (was the polite term). At 15 she had purchased her freedom again and returned home to her father to work beside him in his business.

Family is of the utmost importance to Vashikilu, just as her father taught her. Only within a family can one be safe and comfortable. Whether that is by blood or by choice family is everything. Knowing that she would never be happy by the way she was viewed on Orion, her father agreed to find her work on a ship. She could return whenever she wanted and would be given position and prestige within his family. With a perpetual chip on her shoulder, Vashikilu took the opportunity so she could prove herself. Being the oldest she was entitled to take over her father’s business and family when he decided to step down. She knew, however, the family would never accept her until she had proven herself. That would never happen on Orion. So with her father’s permission she found work on a ship, where she could use her talents and natural abilities and learned skills to make a fortune and return to take over.

So at the age of 16 her father negotiated with Sisnil Zoi the captain of the pirate ship Albatros to let her work on his ship. Sisnil’s brother Noril took a special interest in her. The pair formed an interesting bond.
