Born in London, England in 2116 to a British father and a Spanish mother, Rhys grew up in relative luxury. Both worked in high end roles in business and as such Rhys grew up surrounded by powerful figures and wealth. From a young age, he was routinely conversing with powerful figures in both politics and space travel. Unfortunately, due to the life of luxury that he grew up in he was used to asking for what he wanted and getting it, a trait which stuck with him for years.

Able to attend the finest educational facilities, Rhys took an interest from a young age in biochemistry and the study of how living organisms worked both on a biological and chemical level. It was an interest that stuck with him throughout his teen years. Rhys continued to excel academically through his teenage years, showing a natural aptitude for science, particularly in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology. His curiosity about how life worked at its most fundamental levels deepened, and he became particularly fascinated with the idea of using scientific knowledge to address medical challenges and biological mysteries. His privileged background afforded him access to cutting-edge technology, laboratories, and mentorship from leading scientists, allowing him to explore complex topics well beyond the typical scope of a student his age.
