S'Raal Cran Moonshadow

Character Biography

S’Raal is large for a Caitian but retains the grace of his species. His fur is golden with a reddish tinge under certain lights. His eyes are golden like most of his race. Around his mouth and left eye are a distinctive white patch of fur shaped somewhat like a reverse question mark. He speaks Vulcan and Andorian as well as Federation Standard and his own Ferasan language.
S’Raal was born on Commissariate, a colony made up of Caitians, Andorians, Vulcans and Humans. His best friends while growing up were Cran, an Andorian boy and T’Pon a young Vulcan girl. Cran was warrior caste and the boys sparred regularly as they grew. T’Pon’s family were shunned by other Vulcans as they were part of the sect that separated from Vulcan to explore their emotions more fully. T’Pon taught S’Raal Vulcan meditation at his request and during this time they fell in love. They were age 18 and 19 respectively. This would have caused a great deal of persecution from others who were more insular if it wasn’t for the brooding presence of Cran who protected his friends with an intensity bordering on fanaticism.
One day disaster struck and an Orion raiding party kidnapped seven women from the colony including T’Pon. Cran’s family immediately launched a rescue and against his uncle’s wishes S’Raal went with them. They caught the Orion freighter and boarded it after punching through its shields. Cran was wild with rage and shrugged off the pain of the wounds that were inflicted upon him. S’Raal tried to protect his friend from his own beserker rage but by the time they reached the women Cran slid to the floor bleeding profusely and unable to keep going. A large Orion was all that stood between S’Raal and his love. The Orion pulled a disruptor and turned not on S’Raal but on the women. Three died before S’Raal crossed the room and the Orion had T’Pon in his sights. Screaming S’Raal threw himself across the distance and bit down on the Orion’s disruptor hand wrist nearly severing it. The blast went wide but not without burning S’Raal’s face and coming close to taking out his left eye. T’Pon took out the incapacitated Orion with a pinch to the neck. They turned to Cran and cradled his head as he died smiling up at his friends, happy to die protecting them.
T’Pon and S’Raal both joined Starfleet Medical in honor of their fallen friend and took his name as their own. Although posted to separate ships they are bonded for life. S’Raal has been reprimanded on more than one occasion for near infringement of his oath to “first do no harm”. His philosophy is that to prevent harm at times it is justifiable to first do harm to those who are trying to cause harm to others… especially his friends.
