Appearance
Frank is 5’ 10” and about 200 pounds, giving him a slightly soft appearance, far from a muscled Adonis. His head is topped with slightly thinning black hair. His eyebrows are thick and bushy and provide covering for his dark brown eyes. His skin is a deep bronze color, tanned from prolonged exposure to the sun.
His hands are thin and spindly, attached to lean arms. The nails are always neatly trimmed. Around his right ring finger he wears his UC, Berkeley class ring.

History
Born in Lisbon, Francisco “Frank” Silva is an only child. When he was ten, his father, Roberto, moved the family to California to pursue a career in advanced surgery. It was in this time, after having lost all of his childhood friends that Frank fell in love with plants.
Beginning as a gardener, Frank withdrew inside himself, spending less and less time with human friends and more time tending to his precious plants. Violets and vines were his favorite. He loved the way the ivy would crawl up structures and cover them in a protective sea of green leaves. He even went so far as to build his own greenhouse out of trash and scraps.

In high school, Frank developed more friends and became more social and self-confidant, but his love for plants never left, it only grew to include cultivating rare and difficult varieties in his makeshift laboratory. This lifelong passion caused him to want to go to biology and ultimately pursued a doctorate in the field from UC, Berkley.
After he graduated from Berkley he was assigned to the Sasquatch as a science ensign, eventually becoming a Lieutenant Junior Grade there and being transferred to the Endeavor.

On the Endeavor he started focusing more on pharmacology and toxicology. Fascinated with what he learned there, he was driven to become Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in addition to his doctorate in botany.

Most recently, the seasoned commander has been sent to the Memorial to serve as her chief medical officer, a position he is excited for, and yet not sure he is prepared for.
