Born in New York to parents Martin and Nora Dysart, Alan grew up always bullied for his shy, nervous demeanour. He always did well in school, but always worked alone, even on group projects, he insisted on working alone. At age 12, Alan’s parents placed him in therapy to try to give him basic social coping skills so that he could work with the other children. It worked, to a certain extent. He was still picked on, but he could function within a social construct.
At Starfleet Academy, he had only one friend, his roommate. In simulated scenarios, Alan proved more capable of taking over, than taking orders. He was capable of performing a task as ordered, though often he wanted to make a change to his orders, to perform the task how he thought more efficient or more precise.
Medical:
Unremarkable medical history, save for one laboratory injury, slightly disabling his left hand.
Psychological:
He has a strong belief in his own genius, likely rooted in often being reminded of his high IQ and scholastic achievements as a child.
