Character Biography

Physical Appearance:
Mark had jet black hair that was shaved close to his scalp on the sides. The top of his hair remained long and was slicked back with a short pompadour that rose off the widow’s peak in the center of his forehead. On the left side of his head, a thin horizontal line had been shaved, emphasizing the place that his hair parts and acting as a guide for him to comb his hair over in case he didn’t feel like doing it in the morning.

His piercing emerald green eyes and sharp jaw line gave him a unique appearance. He commonly sported a neatly trimmed, short beard that he would grow for several weeks before inevitably becoming sick of it and shaving it off to start the cycle over again.

Mark’s physique was tall and slim but we’ll defined. He kept himself fit, despite not being overtly large.

History:
Mark “Flip” Atlas was born on a small ranch in Kodak, Tennessee to Mary and John Atlas. His mother, Mary, was full blooded Filipino and was the person everybody said Mark resembled most. Mark’s father was a mix of Irish and Ukranian. The combination of genes from Mark’s parents made him an apparent “mutt” as nobody was ever truly able to determine his nationality.

As a child, Mark’s life was relatively inconsequential. His mother was a school teacher and his father was a paramedic for the local fire department. From a young age, Mark took great interest in his father’s work and in the medical field as a whole. His lack of squeamishness and willingness to help during ride alongs with his father surprised both his parents and encourage them to motivate Mark towards a career in medicine.

Upon completion of high school, Mark attended school to become a paramedic, like his father, despite his parents insistence that he attend Med School to become a doctor. Mark worked as a firefighter paramedic for 3 years until the day his father was killed while responding to a structure fire. Shortly after, Mark attended Starfleet Academy’s medical program to commission as a doctor.

Mark found certain aspects of Med School challenging. Not that they were particularly difficult, he just didn’t find interest in most of the routine aspects of being a doctor. He didn’t care for runny noses and mild coughs. When someone’s life was on the line was when he excelled.

After graduation, Mark was sent to several Federation Medical Treatment Facilities around Earth for his residency. During that time, he specialized in Emergency Medicine.

At age 29, Mark Atlas completed his residency and was immediately commissioned as an Ensign and assigned to the USS Saracen.
