Appearance:

River is short slim women with shoulder length blond hair. She has piecing ice blue eyes and a fair complexion. Despite her size she has a commanding presence and can handle herself against people far bigger then her.

She is mostly seen in her marine uniform which is the same as the standard except the marines have a dark green department colour and instead of pips, the Marines have rank insignia similar to the old us marine rank symbols. For office occasion a maroon beret is worn. In combat she wears the standard marine armour however hers is scratch and show clear signs of repair, a visual reminder of the battles she has fought. On the right shoulder of her armour is a carton reaper and on the left is the marine corps insignia.

Bio:

River was born to Richard and Kyra Styxx, she was there only child and came form a long line of star fleet admirals and generals. Despite them being part of star fleet royalty Richard and Kyra never acted like it spending time with other daughter every chance they got. As a result River spent the first six years of her life on her parents ship, the Enchanter. where her father was a Major and her mother the ship CO.

This changed however a week after River’s sixth birthday. Her parents had been ordered to a remote system to pick up an artefact. And they where advised to make sure all non-essential personnel and civilians where moved off the ship. This included River was pout in the care of a babysitter until her parents came back. That was the last time River saw her parents. As their ship went missing not long after he mission started the only trace they had was a badly damaged beacon and the only data that could be retrieved from it was a casualty list. This list included River’s father.

So began the hell that was the rest of River childhood. Her babysitter owed a lot of money to a pair of Ferengi traditionalist. So as soon as the news broke that the ship was lost she set to work stealing and selling everything of value at the Styxx household. But it still wasn’t enough to pay the debt off so she sold River to them.

River spent the next 11 years in the orphanage fighting for survival everyday. The Ferengi had a policy of you didn’t do enough work to cover your food, water, shelter and medical supplies plus profit you got nothing. This turned the orphanage into a place where theft, assault and many other crimes took place. It didn’t help that women in Ferengi traditionalist society are seen as lesser and have less rights. So River learnt quickly she had to be tuff and after she beat to older kids within an inch of there life, after they tried to take advantage of some of the female children. She earned the spot of top dog and used her position to create alliances with the other kids, sharing supplies and offering protection to each other.

Ironically this was also the place she discovered her love of playing the piano. It started out as something she had been forced to learn and do. But she learnt to enjoy it and it made her life a little better. She was often wheeled out for special occasions and used as entertainment for more private parties.

When she was 17 she was faced with being sold to the Orion syndicate but she was saved form this fate by a federation task force who had been investigating the orphanage and its mistreatment of its children. Amongst this task force was one captain Forman of the star fleet marine corps. He saved River and helped her recover from what happened at the orphanage. It was thanks to him that one year later River joined the Marines.

River excelled at her train and became proficient in hand to hand combat and tactics. She also gained a reputation as a fast and merciless opponent with several people saying she was deadly as she was beautiful. It was in basic Training that River met the women who would become her fiance, Abigail Harkin. The pair immediately hit it off and became good friends. Over time and through their various postings kept them apart but they stayed in contact Until fate pulled them together at Acheron.

River’s Marine career had been fairly boring aside from a few border skirmishes where she earnt a few medals for bravery as well as her first purple heart. That was until Acheron, at first Acheron was an easy assignment and she had finally reconnected with Abigail and Capitan Forman, now general. As expected the sparks between River and Abigail flew and the pair became a couple. With River proposing to Abigail little while later

While on Acheron River and Abi mangled to meet Lily and young girl who was a pickpocket and living in an orphanage over time River and Abi grew very attached to the girl and soon discussed adopting her. River’s life looked good, until the wormhole opened.

This began what was as either known as the slaughter of Acheron, the defence of Acheron or more commonly the battle of Acheron. A brutal battle that lasted six months and cost the lives of over a million people. It was here that River earned her reputation as the Devil of Acheron a cold, merciless killing machine who made nightmares turn and run in fear. After she took command of the battle and after the deaths of the senior staff to a traitors bomb.

The battle was long and hard and the horrors seen still haunt those that where there to this day, a place where allies where turned into enemies and innocence was lost. It was here that River’s daughter Lily was killed in action and her fiance taken and experimented on. After six months the planet was liberated by a joint Klingon, Romulan and Federation fleet.

After the battle River was arrested and put on trial but due to political pressure both form within and out of the federation, she was cleared of all charges and given the rank of Lieutenant as well as the pike medal of valour. She also earned the respect of both the Kingon empire and the Romulan star empire receiving their highest medals in the process. River still has allies within those factions to this day.

Now River is serving on the USS Atlantis as the marine commanding officer and is an active part in the rebuilding and remembering of Acheron.

Psychological profile:

River is a cold, calculating individual who does not surfer fools gladly. She can be over aggressive when it comes to her handling of situations and in defence of her Marines. But she is also hiding a deep pain that many could not understand. She has a low opinion of most of the high ranking officer in star fleet and believes that Star fleet should accept its identity as a military organisation and drop the pretence of a peaceful organisation. She is not afraid to speak her mind even if it isn’t the thing that should be done.

Despite this she can get on with people as long as they respect her and her marines. She tries to convey that she is not concerned with her reputation but deep down it does bug her. However she isn’t above using it if the situation calls for it. She also has a high IQ for a human.

Medical profile

River is in good physical health aside form the bumps and bruises associated with daily life on a star ship. She has been wounded many times in the past, but all those wounds have healed without a trace.
