Jessica Lemann was born in 2369 on Earth. The youngest of six children and the only girl, her father was a civilian doctor and her mother stayed at home with her children. In 2374, Annemarie Lemann was killed in a robbery that occurred while she was visiting a store at her young daughter’s insistence. In her mother’s absence, and full of guilt at her untimely demise, Jessica took over as the maternal figure of the family, helping her father to raise her five older brothers. All of her brothers eventually joined Starfleet, whereas Jessica attended university and then medical school, turning her life of care taking into another form. Her brothers and her father firmly steered her away from the life of service that her siblings had opted for and, in a momentary fit of rebellion, she joined Starfleet in 2394 shortly after completing her internship in internal medicine.

Jessica was initially assigned to the USS Atlantis as an Ensign, although she was shortly transferred to the USS Ogawa to fill a pressing need for a general practice physician there after one went on a sudden family leave. Upon that physician’s return, she was finally reassigned to the USS Athena.

Jessica is the consummate extrovert. She enjoys being around people and taking care of them. Despite her slight build, surprisingly, she played several sports during her education, including golf. She has a sunny, cheerful disposition that takes quite a bit of effort to get underneath. A practical jokester, her life with five older brothers was full of physical altercations and comedic interaction. Unsurprisingly, she has had no serious relationships and some have joked that her one true love is her family.
