Character Biography

Catherine (Katie) Nunn was born on Earth in the year 2363. After a completely normal and unremarkable childhood, her love of people and their motivations and desires led her to attend Starfleet Academy, where she specialized in medical and then did further graduate work to become a qualified counselor. She spent time serving as a ship counselor before finding a particular love in working with women and children.

Initially, she volunteered with victim advocacy groups before her solid performance and endearing spirit led to an official assignment as a victim advocate in Starfleet. Attached to the legal system, she helped to support victims of crimes throughout the organization in the judicial process and reintegrating into normal life. Quickly, she became particularly involved with the case of a young officer who was the victim of domestic violence at the hand of her civilian husband, who was displeased with becoming acquainted with the Starfleet lifestyle. Through Katie’s guidance and support, the officer successfully had filed for divorce and Starfleet had reassigned her elsewhere, away from her ex-husband. When the officer didn’t show up for her shuttle, Katie was alerted and, through information she had learned over the course of supporting the young woman, located her on the verge of being beaten to death by her ex-husband. She got involved and managed to distract and delay long enough for Starfleet security to come to their rescue, suffering several broken bones, cracked ribs, and a mild concussion along the way.

After the immediate physical damage had mostly been repaired, Katie quickly requested an assignment to return to shipboard counseling. While Starfleet was, understandably, uncertain about assigning her so quickly after a traumatic incident, her courage and dedication was a boon to the service and her request was granted. As soon as she was mostly fit for duty, she was posted as the counselor of the USS Dresden.

Katie’s personal life isn’t much to speak of. Upon transferring to the Dresden, she broke off a long-time engagement to another Starfleet officer whom she had met early in her career. She had been able to easily follow him as he went up the command track, but her decision to pursue shipboard life once again put a strain on a relationship she wasn’t particularly dedicated to following the incident. The Dresden has given her a fresh start in that regard.

Katie is 5‘7” and 145 pounds. She has shoulder length brown hair that she typically wears up while on duty and blue eyes. Her build is athletic, but curvy in the right places. While she is affable and enjoys socializing, her off-duty pastimes tend to be on the quieter side; there is nothing she loves quite like losing herself in a good book.
