Physical Description:
Alston, despite his age, hasn’t let it slow him down. Being still in the trenches, he makes sure to keep himself in shape, so he can keep up with the youngins. His previously brown hair has started to go gray, and his goatee had gone grey years before. For the most part he tends to blend in with the crowd, though he can have an intimidating presence when needed.
Dressed usually in black fatigues, and combat boots, he long ago stopped openly carrying weapons, having passed through enough stations. However, he typically is carrying several knives on himself at any time. When he is on a mission though, he carries a pistol in a shoulder holster.
Psychological Profile:
After his sisters kidnapping, Alston’s outlook on life changed, he found the strict rules of Starfleet to constraining. To him family always outweighed the importance of the rules. As he transitioned out of the marines, he only had two things that mattered to him, his family, and the job.
Always loyal to both, Alston will follow through on the contract till its end. He is known for keeping to the contract, being above bribes, and anyone whose tried has learned to regret it. The only time he’s pulled off of a contract was when his employer had pulled the contract.
Biography:
Growing up, Alston and his family never really stayed still. His dad was a MP, so his family moved with him from posting to posting.
Military family (military brat)
Dad was a MP
Mom stayed at home with Alston and his sister Kaelyn
Got used to moving from posting to posting, and became very good with making friends at each new school
Because of the constant change in schools, and having to make new friends each time, Alston had more time to work on his classwork, so he was well ahead of his classmates.
While it was no surprise that he ended up joining the Marines, his parents had hoped that he would have become an officer, instead of enlisting right out of high school. But as much as Alston was good at school, he didn’t want to be stuck in a classroom for 4 more years.
Coming out of boot camp, Alston was selected to be an explosive ordnance specialist
Additional training before being stationed with the 1st Expeditionary Unit
After his first tour things started to go down hill.
He got a message that his sister, who was a researcher on Outpost 15, had been kidnapped
Obviously his team was not going to be assigned, there was to many emotions there for him to be involved, but for him family was everything.
Despite being ordered not to go, Alston used up his stored leave, and caught the next transport to the Outpost.
In the end he was able to rescue his sister, and even though he was no where nearby, the kidnappers transport exploded as they left the Outpost
Even with no evidence, and no circumstantial evidence that he set the explosion, he was brought in front of the brass. They couldn’t prove he blew up the transport, but they could get him for defying a direct order
He was given an option, walk away, or they’d throw the book at him.
He tried the civilian life, but he couldn’t deal with the boredom. He needed the adventure.
One of his buddies caught up to him, and made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. They needed help with a bounty, going after a suspected murderer. The thrill of the hunt got him, and he continued picking up bounties. Which eventually led him to other contracts, not just for hunting people.
In the end the job didn’t matter to him as much, though he never would take a job that involved kids. His expertise in explosives came in handy, especially his knack for creating improvised explosives in tight situations. It helped him get out of several tight situations, while still allowing him to complete his mission.
Over time he picked up more and more jobs, becoming well respected for his abilities, and trusted for his loyalty. Once he took a contract, he saw it through to the end. People tried to bribe him from time to time to turn on his employer, but that never worked out well for them. The contract was all.
