T'Lama

Character Biography

T’Lama was born to K’Tash & M’Nera on Macadarna. She is the younger sister of M’Lene. T’Lama had spent much of her childhood running around the fields at the back of their family home, pretending to fight enemies so it was no surprise that she ended up going into the field of security. When she turned 16, she spent two years as part of a local security firm on Macadarna but she soon got bored with breaking up bar fights and scolding teenagers for vandalism so she decided to follow in her sister’s footsteps and decided she wanted to join starfleet.

Her first entrance exam didn’t go very well, although she excelled on the physical side, she struggled with academic tests and failed her first attempt. She took a year out and focused on improving her academic abilities and flew through on her second attempt the following year.

She felt a little out of place at first as most of the cadets were several years younger than her and T’Lama had always been the baby of the family but she soon adjusted and made some good friends. She still found the academic subjects difficult but spent every spare moment studying and graduated in 2391 near the top of the class.

Her first assignment out of the academy was the USS Broadsword, where Captain Bordeaux had been the XO at the time. T’Lama loved life on board a starship but soon got a reputation for rushing in before thinking. She had several citations for being reckless on away missions and came close to being thrown off the ship before the COS took her under his wing and she learned some restraint. Because of her early problems, the rest of the team found it difficult to work with her and after a couple of years she decided she needed a new start and got herself reassigned to the USS Washington where despite her reputation preceeding her, T’Lama had learned her lesson and soon gained the trust and respect of her fellow crew members. She didn’t originally intend transferring so soon but hearing M’Lene’s tales of the Atlantis and hearing that they had an opening for a security officer, T’Lama decided to surprise her sister and got herself reassigned.
