During our toast to Jeremy, a thought occurred to me. I ran it by Adam, who asked I post it here for everyone’s thoughts.

I know that in the history of the club, our organization has experienced loss. I propose that we create a specifc ship as a way to remember those who have contributed to the club, but who we have lost. This would be a non-rp area crewed with those who have departed. No positions, no titles. Just a ship of their own with them on the roster. A place where they can remain a part of the club in perpetuity.

James

Myself, I am not sure a “ship” so to speak is the right path myself, but I do like the idea over all. I myself kinda like the idea of just a memorial page. A place each player has a name and club rank and maybe have a groundskeeper who can fill each with as much bio/information we know/remember of each person. The groundskeeper could be some kind of role that people could email with updated information over time so it becomes more of a living memorial that stuff can be added and updated over time. Just my two cents I guess, I love the concept just feel we can do better than just a name on a page for the people we love so much.

I love this idea. I think it is a great way to remember someone’s legacy here. I am not sure about the format but I love the concept. I was not around in Brian Olinski’s era but I know the feeling for him ran just as strong as they do for Jeremy. Brilliant idea James and thank you.

I love the concept as well but I like Steve Sigle’s idea.

I like the idea as well. We could give the page a ship name similar to ‘Barge of the Dead’ or something like that. Valhalla, …those are just two that come to mind right away.

Krys

I double checked really quickly, and it turns out the “Barge of the Dead” only goes to the Klingon version of hell and takes dishonored Klingons there. I think we might want a different name in this case (even though I do like the idea of having a “Barge of the Dead somewhere; I originally pitched it as the name for what Larry decided to call “Fleet 0”).

Joe

Even before I knew that I was planning on vetoing “Barge of the Dead” for a name for this.

How about the USS Sha Ka Ree? –Terry

But what does God need with a Starship?

Sorry, someone had to say it.

Well we already use the USS Sha Ka Ree, NCC-98728 as a NE ship that is a mythology class. So it is a reserved ship name we already have.

I mean personally I am not even sure why the ship needs to be the objective here, I am suggestion just a page that you could see when you go to Fleets > Starfleet Command > Memorial. It in no ways NEEDS to be a ship, it just needs to be a page and we can still add “characters” that are just profiles for the lost. These profiles then would be specially formatted and maintained by the “groundskeeper”.

The groundskeeper would be something akin to maybe our dock master role James Sinclair does, where they could have a unique email that people can send information for updating purposes so they may keep up. Now this may require a little bit of formatting etc, but the basic idea I have is simply a place to maintain and display and give more than just a name for people to see but as I said a living memorial something that would be able to read about them, bout their lives in STF and out and whatever we want to put in there.

This way once everything is set up, if needed we always have someone who can add new people as well as update existing. This though in no means is meant to be a full time role that needs full monitoring, thus the email to send information to the groundskeeper in order for them to add information when eneded.

I like the idea Steven proposes. The original thought of a ‘ship’ was just a way of memorializing those we want to remember. I personally don’t care what actual physical form that takes, and I think Steven has a good idea with the Memorial page. It will be easier to view and maintain.

James

I’m wondering if we want to add the characters they played to said page? Just a thought. I know there were quite a few characters I remember of Jeremy’s that I would like to still get to see in some way or another. Not sure if that’s too much though.

You can still find all of Jeremy’s characters on his profile, here: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/profile/JesusChristSTFStar/
