Ship Status: December was a particularly difficult month for many reasons, but it also saw a lot of changes. Our new XO, Miriam, has been settling in and that has prompted a slew of posting which is encouraging to see. Ian’s sim is all wrapped up and his GMT process is being concluded. From there we will move on to a new sim.

Spotlight: I’m giving Ian a special spotlight for wrapping up our sim with sensitivity that was required, and also to the whole crew for a special thread.

Though people were on holidays and not everyone was around over the month, people really stepped up and helped bring the sim to a close with a particular poignant thread. [Background: our sim involved time travel and the Guardian of Forever and at the end there were two versions of every character. They had to be merged back together to preserve the continuity of reality and each player had to decide which of these versions would be the one to continue on. One was from a day in the future where a lot of difficult things had taken place, and the other didn’t have those memories yet.]

Vacancies: While there is room for a well placed JO or Swing, the ship is more or less at a stable place right now and adding too many more people would make the board unmanageable.

USS Atlantis

Ship Status: Even though it was December the crew of the Atlantis wrote amazing pieces and kept the ship afloat without a GM. You are the best crew but then again you all are fabulous. Kane continues to write an amazing side sim that has spots for all who are interested in playing guest to a Klingon wedding. Another highlight was Luke Hung agreeing to GM the ship. Everyone is very excited to have him on board.

Ship Status: The holidays have resulted in a lull for the owie, we have had some great side sim posting and the main sim is starting to progress. With a plan in place we will be building this clinic in no time! (We hope)

Spotlight: Everyone is my spotlight for their work on character development and side sims. In particular Brandon, James and Sam for keeping things going.

Vacancies: JOs all dots especially eng and sec, Swings, we need a teacher! (Aka zookeeper)

Ship Status: The holidays did take their toll, however, it was mostly with me. I was quite surprised to see when I returned that the boards had still been quite active. It did take some time to catch up but it seems we are all posting regularly now and the board is very active.

Spotlight: I must spotlight our Captain Cale. Not only was she instrumental in keeping the momentum going through the holidays but she has managed to completely fill the ship’s roster with some very talented role players.

Sim Overview: The crew arrived at Carraya IV and have beamed down an initial team to meet with Commander Bosede and her staff. It is clear by the somewhat dire conditions that the arrival of the Ogawa will improve things greatly, for the clinic staff and the refugees in the camp.

Outpost 42

Ship Status: Post quantity was up slightly from November, which is great considering the relaxed posting limit time period and how busy people tend to be in December. Perhaps we’re settling in a bit to a new normal with a slower posting frequency, which works well for me right now. I’ve had plenty taking away my focus from the Outpost in December which seems to be continuing in early January. There are reasons I’m only on one ship and it’s a slow one.

The SOO and Counselor positions are still open. If you want to take advantage of a great place to roleplay with some excellent writers at a relaxed pace, let me know!

Spotlight: Louis has jumped in with both feet, which is a big reason for the increase in overall post count. Kate and Steven always come up with some great reads, this month being a birth account of Cera Teller and a not-surprisingly crazy holiday celebration. I’ve been really happy with Liam as GM. There’s a lot of different threads going on that people can jump into.

Ship Status: The sim is going well. I am so excited to see how it is going to play out. Liam is doing an amazing job of keeping the entire crew happy and occupied. His sim is engaging and something I look forward to reading. The new crew members have seemed to jump right in and are fitting in as if they have been there forever.
