The Black Fleet Report - March 2019

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Janice B.

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 4
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: Things have been a bit slower than desired with the CO, GMT, and GM hit by unexpected events. Congrats to Christopher Bennett for his new addition to his family and high hopes for a bright future. Despite the small hiccups, things should be looking up and moving quickly for the Sim.

Spotlight: There was none for this short month.

Vacancies: Looking for Junior officers for each department, if you’re interested please contact JoeP and me on the discord or through email.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Joe is excused from this month’s report. The Europa has hit a slow point, though once the CO, GMT, and GM come back from LOA I’m sure posting will pick up again.

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: Well, I got the keys to the ship so we could clean up a few things. I’d like to get some more junior officers about, but all the department heads are in place and we got us a new XO. So that’s pretty good. In many ways its like getting the keys to a throughbred horse, just jump on board and let it do what it does.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Sim Overview: The Genesis had made first contact with a Warp capable species. In their encounter, they had been invited to visit their main planet. They identified themselves as from the Pallas Star System. They are still using fission energy to power their warp engines but they are not able to go beyond Warp 1.5.

During their visit to the planet, the crew of the Genesis discover how willing they are to make friends so that they could have the technology to further their speeds. The Pallasians have smell sensory receptors on their finger tips. They usually wear gloves. In the middle of their negotiations, the first away team discover that the Pallasians have removed their gloves. The commander of the first away team has made a report to the Captain.

FComm’s Comments: Luke is doing fairly well as CO of the Genesis. With only 2 (now 3) COs assigned to the ship in the past decade, Luke has some big shoes to fill. I’m certain he’ll do great in his new role!

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The Merrimack crew are still giving lectures to the cadets of Red Squad at Starfleet Academy. They are now up to the 4th lecture of 7 in total.
1. Tinga - The Silent Traveller: An Andorian life in Starfleet.
2. Miriam Cross - Ship’s Counsellors: The case for mental health first aid in Starfleet.
3. Mthunzi Nkosenye - Away Teams: The integration of on-site scans into real-time security plans for missions away from ships.
4. Kord - The day I met Nathan Samuels: The Coalition of Planets and the founding fathers of the UFP.
5. John Glen - Less work and more play: The opportunities to see the Milky Way, to study cultures and new life.
6. William Grey - Believe in six impossible things before breakfast: Physics on the edges of Known Space.
7. Tiastri Ezial - Beyond Warp 9: Is Warp-Drive the future of Space Travel?
There are a number of additional side Sims with the crew taking leave on Earth following the lectures. Mthunzi and Miriam have gone visit his mother in Natal. Tinga has lead some of the crew to her favourite beach in Iceland. John has gone to Paris to visit his son and his former CSO, Andromeda du Astra. Meanwhile Kord and Tiastri are still having dinner. Posts slowed down in the main Sim, as the lectures don’t leave much room for interaction from the audience, but there is a lot of character building taking place within the side Sims. After his lecture John has also returned to Commandant Bradbury to tell him that he is willing to inspect Red Squad. Bradbury is still acting weird and was seen to be crying.

Spotlight: I cannot choose one person this month however the side Sim conversation between Kord and Tiastri, and that between Mthunzi and Miriam are excellent.

Vacancies: See ship’s profile and contact captain directly.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: As always, the Merri is green across the board. This team works extremely well together, and it’s evident.

Oed V

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We have picked up some pace with the different things happening on Oed.

The sidesim “A Game of Things” has really picked up. And the few PRSIMs currently running are slowly chugging along.

The catch with Oed at the moment is that we have various people on LOA. So February was hit and miss month. As summer gets closer and sicknesses die down, I’m hoping to see a lot of the Oed crew returning to better health in whatever capacity.

On the admin side, I’m currently working on having the Oed V brochure updated. I’m both excited and a bit stressed by it. It has not been updated in years and requires a lot of into be updated. Hopefully we can get it fully updated by the end of the year. This will definitely be a long term project.

Spotlight: I would like to spotlight Hjortur and Sidney. Both players consistently respond to posts they are involved in and really try to keep things rolling. Thank you for your consistency you two! It is extremely appreciated!

Vacancies: We do have some vacancies. Please inquire if you have any interest.

Executive Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Oed is doing well. A little more fast at times then slows down but still active. I have not been as active as I can be and need to look into that. Mostly my RL schedule is busy.

Spotlight: I’m going with Lindsay here. Always dedicated to moving the sims along.

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: OED V is still going strong compared to past years. There seems to be a flux in posting levels at time, but it really hasn’t affected their sims.

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Sam is excused for LOA. The Olympic. It appears that Chris Perry and D have rejoined the Olympic, both utilizing well established characters. Otherwise, the ship is in good health.

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Ray Branch

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The virus appears to have a cure, and both the XO and CNS are in the process of getting rid of the virus from their bodies. Elsewhere, the Captain has just learned of Admiral Frederic and the mysterious artifacts that usually surround her appearance (I’ve had experience with the great admiral from the Viking and Asimov).

LOAs and AWOLs have been at a low, taking account for those posting while declared LOA.

We’ve seen a few new JOs, which is always exciting!

Spotlight:

Vacancies: JOs in Engineering, Medical, and Science

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: See XO report

Final Comments: Overall the Fleet is in good shape. The common theme appeared to be that members weren’t removing their LOA “declaration”, so it looked as if there were more people on LOA than there actually was.
