Snip

We urge everyone who applies to bear in mind that Starbases are much more difficult to Command than starships.

Snip

How so? It might be helpful for those trying to bear it in mind to explain why it is much more difficult. I’m guessing it’s not obvious to others if it isn’t obvious to me.

Adam

The biggest difference is that a starbase is stationary, compared to a ship. This causes different types of simms to happen, and different interactions, because the action comes to you, instead of you going to the action. Just like how the storylines in DS9 are different then in TNG, Voyager, etc.

Also the balance of the civilian population, compared to just the regular Starfleet crew. To make a very vibrant starbase simm, you need these other perspectives. So it’s not quite as rigid as a ship.

I hope this helps anyone who is potentially interested in being the CO of Magellan. If anyone is interested, and would like some more information, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I’m happy to talk about my experience from being the CO of a starbase.

Steve

There seems to be a problem with the mail forwards, if you have sent an application and haven’t gotten a response please resend to krysbrom at hotmail.com.

Krys

There are no problems with the mail forwards; only one legitimate email was sent to the Fleet 8 address and it was successfully delivered to both you and Andy.

If you think there are problems with the mail forwards, could you please actually tell someone on TECH who could investigate and fix it, instead of whining publicly? We can’t solve problems when people don’t tell us what the problems actually are.

Thanks,
Joe
