Snip

We urge everyone who applies to bear in mind that Starbases are much more difficult to Command than starships.

Snip

How so? It might be helpful for those trying to bear it in mind to explain why it is much more difficult. I’m guessing it’s not obvious to others if it isn’t obvious to me.

Adam

The biggest difference is that a starbase is stationary, compared to a ship. This causes different types of simms to happen, and different interactions, because the action comes to you, instead of you going to the action. Just like how the storylines in DS9 are different then in TNG, Voyager, etc.

Also the balance of the civilian population, compared to just the regular Starfleet crew. To make a very vibrant starbase simm, you need these other perspectives. So it’s not quite as rigid as a ship.

I hope this helps anyone who is potentially interested in being the CO of Magellan. If anyone is interested, and would like some more information, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I’m happy to talk about my experience from being the CO of a starbase.

Steve

There seems to be a problem with the mail forwards, if you have sent an application and haven’t gotten a response please resend to krysbrom at hotmail.com.

Krys

There are no problems with the mail forwards; only one legitimate email was sent to the Fleet 8 address and it was successfully delivered to both you and Andy.

If you think there are problems with the mail forwards, could you please actually tell someone on TECH who could investigate and fix it, instead of whining publicly? We can’t solve problems when people don’t tell us what the problems actually are.

Thanks,
Joe

That is uncalled for Joe, I was not whining but making a statement. I haven’t had time yet to make a ticket but wanted to put my email address up here right away so I did not miss any applications. I was told someone did try to send one through the forwards which I did not receive.

Krys

Well, your repeated “statements” to everybody except the people who can help you are annoying. They are also are counterproductive, because they signal to other people that there is a problem that does not actually exist. Which causes people to not trust the systems that are working and generally undermines everything we are trying to do. You happen to do this sort of thing constantly, even though you should know better, so I think asking you not to do it is extremely called for, especially if you’re going to assert in a public place that something that isn’t broken is broken.

As I said before, there was only one legitimate message sent to your forward in the past month, and it was relayed successfully. If you didn’t see it, that’s a problem on your end and not with the mail forwards.

Joe

Alrighty, let’s end further comment about the forwards and keep this thread about the applications for one of our roleplay areas and show each other some respect and some dignity. As was mentioned in main chat discord only a couple of days ago this is a text based medium and reading emotion into peoples words and assuming intent is counterproductive and is going to lead to unnessecary friction.

So let’s end it here.
