The Pioneer Fleet Report - May 2019

USS Athena

Commanding Officer: Lindsay Bayes

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: May was a bit of a quieter month (mostly due to long weekends for most and a few LOAs), but we still made progress on the main sim and many side sims kept going. As usual, the crew is keeping themselves busy and there is all sorts of plotting and character development going on.

Spotlight: Ian, as our award winning GM, for his continuous juggling of what is a very complex sim.

And Julia for getting her shadowy character stuck in amongst the crew. With so many knowing about him, will their secret mission be compromised?

And also Tony for always posting in a way that advances threads, adds depth and generally being helpful OOC to the crew.

Vacancies: None currently.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Ian Kerby

Sim Overview: Important Threads/Posts:
Sunset on Risa https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/28443/
Sunrise on Rura Penthe https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/29153/
Bridge: A Mid-afternoon Anomaly https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/29434/
1:47pm on Starbase 157 https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/32513/
Afternoon tea with the Prophets https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/34252/
Transporter Room One: An Early Evening Rendezvous. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/37447/
Sickbay: A Late Night Snack https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/37450/
Science Lab: Midnight Howling at the Moon https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/notes/37451/

Strange things are happening on Risa so a team had been sent to investigate why the weather regulation system is malfunctioning. On the ship, matter seems to be appearing in random places out of thin air. Answers are needed before catastrophe strikes.

Further complications have arisen because of the appearance of the Athena in the middle of a tense treaty negotiation on the planet. There are also the difficulties that occur when you look just like someone else… but are not actually that person.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The Athena had 179 posts in the month of May which is well within the posting limits of the ship. Great job guys. Keep it up.

USS Atlantis

Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: The ship is doing amazing. Luke’s story is engaging and has the entire crew scattered about an alien outpost looking for a way to get us home. The crew has paced their bets and both Nash and Mardusk have won the draw for most likely to need to be bailed out of the hooskal before this adventure is over. Did you see what those guys consider lightly armed? The story is moving along at a pace that allows the crew to have fun but progress the story. Thank you, Luke, for all your hard work.

Spotlight: My spotlight this month goes to Emily S and her amazing character Lieutenant (j.g) M’Lene as the science chief. M’Lene is a 6‘2” 92 kg Caitain who loves astrophysics and long naps. She is an amazing gymnast and rumor has it she might be in the market to start up a new off duty rec group called the Atlantean Acrobats. All jokes aside Emily is an amazing writer and I am so proud to have her on my ship. Her posts are engaging, fun, and make you want to come back and read them. Thank you, Emily, for joining the Atlantean Family. You are a welcome addition to the family and we are lucky to have you.

Vacancies: The doors are open! Everyone is welcome and if you bring a friend you will be upgraded to the roommate suite which has two bedrooms instead of a four-person room.

Executive Officer: Liam Schoepp

Ship Status: Right now the ship is in tip top shape. People are posting, the main sim is moving along nicely, and we just narrowly avoided certain doom because of our bad habit of scanning EVERYTHING we come across. Despite most likely not learning anything from this, I look forward to what comes next.

Spotlight: Spotlight for this month goes out to Cale Reilly and Emily S for their sickbay thread becoming so interesting that I decided to pop in and post.

Vacancies: None at the moment

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: The Atlantis had 161 posts in the month of May which is well within the posting limits of the ship. Great job guys. Keep it up.

USS Dresden

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Joana Ribeiro

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: May was a slow month for the Dresden. There were many LOAs which didn’t help with post progression, but the ship has been slowly picking up pace again. There are a few changes on the way and some new players lined up to join which I think will help.

Spotlight: I think the whole crew deserves a spotlight this month, keeping up side swimming even through a particularly slow month.

Vacancies: Chief Science Officer, JOs in all departments.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Sim Overview: An Ardanan ship was discovered to be attacked by a few Efrosian ships. On enquiry, the Efrosians claim that the Ardanan ship had stolen some art pieces. The Ardanan leader, Lorenzo is a friend of many top brass in Starfleet. Before further clarifications were obtained, the Ardanan ship fled and the Dresden gave chase. The Dresden managed to beam the CIO on board the Ardanan ship and has managed to take the Ardanan crew into custody.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The Dresden had 76 posts in the month of May however the crew did have several LOA’s. The current posts are well written and interesting to read. Great job guys. Keep it up.

USS Ogawa

Commanding Officer: Cale Reilly

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 4
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The new sim has just started and people are jumping in and getting involved alongside some continuing side sim threads. There’s a lot of good writing going on and I am excited to see where this new sim will go already there’s been a murder oooh! I have a lot of people to spotlight this month!

We have had some LOAs due to ongoing issues and some AWOLs which have resulted in some character shifts recently.

Spotlight: Spotlight for Amber who strode into the lounge to deal with mystery cadets and dead bodies. Brandon who continues to keep things ticking along with med medical staff despite beanie babies! Sam who as always has some amazing writing going on by himself and with Trinity. Trinity has really captured my attention with her Klingon educator and I am loving the idea of the 1900s surgery thread so kudos to Iain too for that. Krys does a great job as her mother son pairing too!

Vacancies: Eng JO

Executive Officer: Harley Cartee

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: So I have been missing in action awhile and am solely responsible for the low score for the command staff. I gave an 8 for overall ship health due to Linds starting an exciting new sim for us and several new additions to the crew roster.

Now that the flood waters are receding and the tornado outbreak seems to have gone away, I will be posting with regularity again.

There are some exciting things happening on the Ogawa!

Spotlight: Iain has created a wonderful character, Dr. Jarvis, who is crotchety, mean, and I love to hate him! Exactly the type of character I love to interact with.

Linds has started a new sim and I’m already in love with it. She really has something great in store.

Cale deserves my extreme gratitude for not only for being an amazing STF player and awesome CO, but for being a true friend. During all the crazy things going on where I live, she frequently checked on me to make sure I was okay and she made me promise to check in frequently. She didn’t have to do that, but she cares. She’s a true leader.

Vacancies: We could probably use a security officer.

Gamemaster: Lindsay Bayes

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 4
Overall Ship Health: 5

Sim Overview: After discussions with the CO and a general knowing that my sim wasn’t going to be playable long term, I made the decision to end it and start something new. At the end of the month I started our new sim Sands Through the Hourglass and we’ve kicked off the action with the ship being pulled into a subspace pocket rather roughly. Amidst damage to the ship and injuries to the crew, a dead body has been discovered and random unknown people are appearing. Where did they come from and why do they keep calling people by different names?

Spotlight: Sam Pennington for always being eager to delve in and help make the sim progress. You have no idea just how welcome that is.

FComm’s Comments: The Ogawa had 195 posts in the month of May which is well within the posting limits of the ship. Great job guys. Keep it up.

Outpost 42

Commanding Officer: Adam W.

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: This was the month with the most posts since September, so a solid month for the Outpost. I think it’s helped having some new crew members join, the latest being Gene Gibbs, who is playing our COO. We could still use more variety in side sim activity as we still have several people only in a thread or two.

Spotlight: Liam’s sim with the strange visitors that seem to be from different times has been a joy. Great job Liam. Also, we’ve gotten some great life from our newest members, Hjortur, Emily, and Gene. Thanks for jumping in!

Ship Status: The Outpost is seeing a lot of new action. Mainly in a fabulous GM and a host of new characters. Gene and Emily are a welcome addition to the ship. The XO can’t wait to meet Brako. Evie is ready to order the flowers with another new Counselor on the ship even if Mathias or Sakai have no clue she is picking out china. Cog continues to write snappy dialogue and interesting clues about his sim that is fun to post to. Jessica and Teller are about to publically tie the knot or will her dad have other plans. Duncan has been shanghaied by the lovely Lily and is now avoiding the second-grade science teacher due to a missed detention. Baldur is being grilled but the wonderful Lt Sakai in the CNS office while Toveka is hard at work trying to find all the pieces to the tablet that had a particular ship on it which deepens the mystery about the artifacts. Keep up the good work crew. You make it easy to be an XO of such an amazing ship.

Spotlight: My spotlight goes to Gene Gibbs and his amazing character Lieutenant (j.g.) Nikki Brako. Right now he is introducing his character and I am loving every word of his post. With the edition of Emily posting now in the thread I am a junkie. What comes next who knows but I do know that “He was scheduled with the boss’ runner up, the muscle....” for a check-in. I have never been this excited for a check-in. Don’t hold back and let’s have some fun. On a personal note, I was in his sim on the Viking in 2017 when I joined the site and loved every moment. I am thrilled to be able to RP with him now on the Outpost. His brand of humor, wit, and creativity has always made me smile. Welcome to the Outpost Gene.
