The Black Fleet Report - June 2019

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: Joe P

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: Looking at the month over all, we were just kinda barely OK. A lot of people have had real life issues tugging them back and forth, including our GMT, so progress in the main sim has been slow.

We recruited Dave Eads this month, who is playing Lt. Va’rek in our Engineering department. There were no departures.

Spotlight: Linds and Luke have been keeping a side sim going for a while now that has been filling in for the lack of movement in the main sim somewhat well. I wish other people would participate in it more.

Janice has roped Dave into a side sim where their Vulcan characters are meeting each other, and Avik’s family. I’m kind of liking that so far.

Vacancies: We are willing to take JOs in any Department, and any Swing positions.

Executive Officer: Janice B.

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: As shown in the report, the numbers keep flexing between good and bad. Most of the crew has been doing an excellent job in keeping things going at a steady pace while the GMT deals with a busy real life. With some luck, the Sim will slowly get back on track and progress farther.

To summarize the Sim’s progress so far, the meeting within the Observation Room has finally concluded. During the meeting, an Ensign reported from the bridged informed the CO about a message from Starbase 51. Taking a moment to warn his crew to keep their silence about their meeting’s purpose, Dvorak decides to take the call in the observation room.

After the meeting ends, the CMO deals with a mysterious case. A crew member, named Stevens, was admitted to sickbay when he becomes mysteriously ill. His friend Taylor is now assisting Zeke in discovering the cause of the illness. Could this be connected to the bizarre happenings on the ship or something far more deadly?

Spotlight:

Vacancies: We still have positions open for Junior officers in all department. If you are interested, contact JoeP or Fallenreaper on discord or through email. Please have your character idea ready to present to both the CO and XO.

Gamemaster: Christopher Bennett

Sim Overview: The sim is progressing very slowly, my fault. I have recently taken a job overseas in a rather unique local. Long days, combined with mentally and emotionally draining situations has zapped me of my creativity recently. I am starting to get into a routine and, as the sim moves into it’s final phase, I expect posting to increase as we approach the climax of the sim.

The Europa is currently at high warp into an unknown area of space on an exploration and deep space scouting mission. They are briefing the mission now and upon conclusion, will move onto the final act.

Spotlight: None

AFComm’s Comments: Kind of an up and down month for the Europa.. That’ll happen when your GM has some real life issues to take care. Not that I’m blaming their GMT, because real life does happen with things we can’t control and real life ALWAYS takes precedence.

I’ve no fears that the Europa will bounce back!!

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: A healthy ship, we are slow on some posts as we continue an elaborate pair of away teams missions. I have sent a third team off ship to a probe graveyard on a ‘near by’ asteroid to help keep everyone busy. There is a large side sim welcoming our new XO and annoying our current CO, but that is neither here nor there.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: as always Junior Officers, we do have a few good ones though so I really can’t complain.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The Genesis makes first contact with a civilization who call themselves Pallasians. They were warp capable but in a limited way. They were using nuclear energy to run their warp engines. Two away teams were sent to make contact with the Pallasians. Meanwhile, the CSO, who was from the future acts uncomfortably but cannot divulge anything due to the Temporal Prime Directive.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: No concerns for the Gensis. As Luke mentioned, he sent out another away team to keep everybody busy. A sign of a good CO!!!

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Even though posting in the last Sim was very free and easy going, the number of posts remained high, and the self-Sim threads were very well used. The lectures by the crew were finished, questions were answered, and we also gave the bad news to Commandant vice-Admiral Bradbury about his wife’s relationship with his cadets. In Iceland, some of the crew narrowly avoided kidnap by unknown criminals, and all the other shore leave adventures had to come to a close.
We left, once again, for the edges of Federation space. We have answered a distress call in the Yorki system by the USS Avenger and found them under attack by two Orion vessels…

Spotlight: This month I’d have to spotlight David ‘Jud’ Bennett for his idea to try to have some of the crew kidnapped while on shore leave. It was a pity that it had to end so abruptly, but duty called, and the Merrimack had to leave Earth. It certainly brightened up the end of the Sim.

Vacancies: As usual, I am in the great position that I have no DH positions to be filled. However, I am still keen to expand the crew numbers, so if you want to play a junior officer or some custom position, all will be considered. Speak with me directly and we can discuss your request. Remember that the Merrimack is a slow posting ship, so a junior officer can post every ten days, and still be considered not to be absent.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: The Merrimack finishes up their R&R sim with discovering Admiral Bradbury’s wife having an affair with one of the younger strapping Red Squad cadets! Now with our next sim already started the ship finds itself out on patrol near the dangerous Triangle region where they are heading to intercept a distress call now from the USS Avenger!

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: Everything’s moving along on the Merrimack as a new sim is getting underway. Looking forward to see where this goes.

Oed V

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We have taken on two new people to fill in as civilian DH’s! Miriam W has taken on the Head of Science and Terraforming, while Luke Paris has taken on the Head of Mining role. And there is another in the works of developing a character as well!

Overall, Oed is doing ok. Trinity and I are working on a main PRSIM to run, so more on that will be happening soon I imagine.

We can definitely use some more creative writers!

Spotlight: I’d like to spotlight this month, Hjortur Ingi and James Sinclair! Both of them have been consistently posting and keeping up! They are both excellent examples of members on Oed ought to be doing! Thank you both for your commitment and consistency.

Vacancies: CIO, CSO, CMO, Head of Construction and Operations, and Spaceport/Orbital Platform Commander

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: With as unique place as Oed is, it’s nice to see a large roster as well as a number of unrostered secondary characters that many people are playing. Though, there are still a number of spots the Governor would like to see filled! This is a great place to RP. I did so for a short time and really enjoyed the brief time I ewas there. Unfortunately, I had to give it up as I began to stretch myself too thin. Maybe I’ll go back again someday after I retire from real life. . . .

It’s also nice to see that Tony is training/mentoring another person on how to run PRISMs on Oed. The more people that are capable of doing that the better. Keep up the good work.

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: Christopher Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The ship is moving along despite my lengthy absence. We have concluded our previous sim and have started a new one. Sam Pennington has started a new sim and it is off to an interesting start. I am hoping to get back into the swing of things here soon as I settle into my new routine.

Spotlight: Terry Sullivan gets a well deserved spotlight for the way he finished up the previous sim and held it together. He did a fantastic job in bringing us to a awesome conclusion. Well done Terry.

Vacancies: Jo’s in all departments

Executive Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: ^5 posts for the month. Not bad, consider the Oly only has 7 active Rper’s at the current time. Those 7 have done a great job of keeping active while I did my darnedest to keep them entertained while finishing up the sim.

Speaking of that, the Mirror Universe folks were discovered and set the ship’s auto-destruct to erase any evidence of their even being here. Through the combined efforts of the senior staff as well as a couple of NPC’s, they were able to stop the self-destruct, round up all the imposters, only to have them disappear to perhaps return another day?

With that wrapped up, Sam Pennington has started his GMT sim with the Olympic answering a distress call from a Romulan cargo vessel that has crossed the Neutral Zone to escape the Tal’shiar (At least that’s what they claim. Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out.

Spotlight: This month goes to Gene Gibbs. Not only does Gene do an excellent job as our Vulcan CE, but he’s always ready to throw some NPC’s into the mix to keep things going. Plus, he’s also acting as Sam’s GM Mentor, so I know Sam is in good hands

Vacancies: All our DH slots are filled but we desperately need JO’s in all departments. Currently there are no JO’s on the ship (therefore Gene’s extra work with NPC’s)

Please consider joining the Olympic. Now is the perfect time as the new sim is just getting underway.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: See my XO’s comments above

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Kind of a low posting month for the Wolverine (63 posts), but things are continuing to move along.

The whole crew is hanging out together in the cargo bay as the CSO implements his baryon sweep to rid the ship of the virus.

I’m really enjoying the suspicions portrayed by a number of the crew toward our guest scientist Cmdr. H.G. Wells (yes, that HG Wells). She has gained the trust of the Captain, but others think she is up to something that could imperil our trip back home. Those that don’t trust her are bound and determined to find out what she is really up to.

Spotlight: Once again, it has to go to Sid Parker who plays our CE. He’s a suspicious paranoid anyway.,it’s great watching him spar with Cmdr. Wells and be shut down by her at every turn. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Sid plays that character perfectly and you love to hate him for it.

Vacancies: JO’s

Executive Officer: Ray Branch

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The Wolverine is undergoing a Baryon sweep, and will continue normal operations once this has been completed. For the meantime, everyone is contained in the Wolverine’s Cargo holds. The CO, XO, and CSO are just about to go over the data that was traded to them from a nearby traveler.

LOAs and AWOLs have been reduced as we see the roster increase in size :) Everyone is playing their part.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: Junior Officers in medical and science are important too :)

Gamemaster: No report submitted
