The Pioneer Fleet Report - September 2019

USS Athena

Commanding Officer: Lindsay Bayes

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: A bit of a slower month though we still had quite a few posts on the board (180). There were a fair number of LOAs and we’ve had some crew need to take eLOAs or step down for the time being. That being said, the sim is still moving along and we had Academy graduate Steve Aliss join our ranks.

Ian’s sim continues to intrigue and offer up plenty of plot twists.

September was a hard month in terms of my own posting but I am finally getting back into the swing of things in October. I don’t have any real concerns at the moment and am aware of all the crew issues that the roster might indicate at a quick glance. It should all sort itself out soon enough and I can be patient.

Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: At the bottom of the Borehole on Risa is a dais that used to house the Mirror Orb of the Prophets, an energy force tasked with keeping the mirror universe and ours separate. With it missing the universes are colliding with disastrous results. Also with Tholian, Gorn and Breen delegates on the planet all experiencing strange phenomena that occurred right when the Athena arrived… well, it won’t be long before there’s trouble.

On the ship transporter inhibitors have shown effective in stopping the remerging process of the universes on a local level. Perhaps it’s time to think about what could happen if part of your warp core suddenly crossed the divide…?

Mirror Kaylee Baxter and her mother have taken Isabel to Rura Penthe to meet up with the team there. There are uninvited guests on Rura Penthe and one of their “experiments” mirror Liam Madison is lose and causing havoc. Also unbeknownst to them Orvos and Mirror Orvos switched places and now Athena’s Orvos is hidden aboard the stolen ship waiting to make his move which is timely because the missing Orb of the Prophets is now in the possession of the mad scientists of Rura Penthe.

The Athena is racing against time to save its crew members, return the Mirror Orb to its rightful place and save two universes from certain extinction. All in a days work.

FComm’s Comments: The Athena crew had 180 posts for the month of September. This is well within the posting limits of the ship. Good job guys.

USS Atlantis

Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: The ship is doing well. The main sim is has everyone at a garden party that was not endorsed by the Sweet Southern Housewives of the South. Someone brought a weapon and now the whole station has a bee in its bonnet. All jokes aside, Luke is doing an amazing job of keeping us all on the straight an narrow in his sim It is fun and engaging and he rolls with whatever the crew has been throwing at him including to left hooks to some poor unsuspecting security guards.

Spotlight: My crew gets the spotlight this month. I want to extend a thank you to the crew for working together and keeping up when they can. This crew has a lot of real-life hitting them in September from new jobs, family concerns, and the start of school. I want to thank each and every one of you personally for the patience you have shown to everyone else on the ship. It can be hard when you are ready to post and your RP partner is LOA or AWOL. You guys are amazing. Keep up the good work.

FComm’s Comments: The Atlantis crew had 173 posts for the month of September. This is well within the posting speed of the ship Good work guys.

USS Dresden

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: The Dresden crew had 82 posts for the month of September. This is slightly below the expected posting limits of the ship however many of the posts were longer pieces than typical posts. Some ranged five or more paragraphs as a single posted entry to tell a story. Based on the length and quality of the posts, the ship is doing very well with amazing stories that pull you in and make you want to read more . Good job guys. Keep it up.

USS Ogawa

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Lindsay Bayes

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Sim Overview: The crew has put two and two together and tracked down all their mystery characters from the CO’s favourite soap opera Starbase Hospital, save for the fifth one. Currently they are either keeping them in place or moving them to Primary Sickbay so they can figure out what to do next. No leads yet on the death of Ensign Hart, who seems to register to the non-coporeal beings/characters as a character in the show named Lieutenant Amor Losa. Hmmm, maybe there’s still something there to find out?

Spotlight: Cookies to Sam Pennington, Jame Sinclair and Brandon Irvine for unravelling some key points that will help move things along.

FComm’s Comments: The Ogawa crew had 221 posts for the month of September. This is within the expected posting limits of the ship . Good job guys. Keep it up.

Outpost 42

Commanding Officer: Adam W.

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: A bit quieter than previous months, but still a solid month for our slow roleplaying environment with 72 posts. Some LOA’s slowed us down, including my own.

Despite absences from those in leadership, the self-starting roleplayers we have kept things moving nicely. The pieces are slowly coming together in the main sim as we’re unraveling the identity of the mystery guests.

Spotlight: I don’t think I point out often enough what a great contributor Dave Shotton is. Just one example is a thread he had been working on with Melissa where their characters had been exploring Romulan space. Even with her stepping down from the Outpost, he’s been able to continue the story and take it down its next turn and invite others into it.

Ship Status: The outpost is a bustle of activity thanks to the amazing GM. Reading the main sim is like a soap opera but is a magical and perfect way. Every few posts reveal a ‘say what’ moment as the story unfolds. Side sims abound making you check up on each story for your daily fix.

Spotlight: Dave Shotton is my spotlight. His long-running solo story about Khain has produced writing that is clever, original, and what we have always expected from our brethren down under but slightly right to Australia. Can we say it’s down under and slightly right? Can we make it our STF way to describe New Zealand? I say yes because that description is as original as Shotton. Good work and keep it up. I for one love your stories.
