Edict #14
November 30th, 2019

It would be unbecoming of me to not recognize the work of a singular individual within the club. This person and I have not always seen eye to eye; but his knowledge, his candor, his creativity, and his dedication have never waivered in my time here in the club. From posting on his ships to complex and critical projects, this individual has stepped up time and time again to serve the club to the best of his abilities as both a player and as an officer in the club.

Based on multiple recommendations and my own observations, I take great pleasure in promoting Daniel Lerner to the rank of Vice Admiral, effective immediately.

Thank you, Daniel, for your continued dedication and support of the club and we, it’s members.

Fleet Admiral James Sinclair
President

Thanks, James, for the promotion. And thanks Cale, Steve, Rob, and those of you who have reached out in Discord.

I have truly enjoyed the work I have done for STF during my time in STF. In the four years since my last promotion, STF has been through some major changes and has had to address a number of issues as we think about the future of this club, and while I may have yelled and screamed at times, it has certainly been an adventure these past four years being in the middle of all of it. When I read the description for a Vice Admiral in our bylaws, I am very honoured to be one of the members who have been recognized at that level.

While I have the microphone, so to speak, I wanted, though, to encourage the rest of our members to continue to step up to the challenge of keeping STF moving forward. In our almost thirty-year history, we have reached a point where active volunteers are needed now more than ever. It’s not about the holding a title in STF. It’s about taking the time to do the work, ensure we can deliver a high-quality role-playing game, mentor those around us in these volunteer positions, and be mentored ourselves.

In this new term, I hope I can continue volunteering in these roles as needed, seeing more senior members join me in passing along their experience and wisdom in these sometimes otherwise thank-less roles (which I continue to hope that we find more ways to recognize the specific contributions of our volunteers), and mentoring members newer to this side of the club so that they to can take on these leadership positions.

Thanks again.

Daniel
