Starfleet Academy Report - February 2020

Overall the academy is in good health. We continue to work toward a solution for the Endeavor, so expect further news on that soon. Otherwise, the Challenger is in extremely good shape and should be in stellar shape for the next mission.

Congratulations to Julie Watts for graduating! We’re just firming up her post-graduation assignment (literally just waiting to hear back from emails).

USS Challenger

Commanding Officer: Sarah Hemenway

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: Geoff’s fantastic plant zombie sim is quickly coming to a close as we sort out a new home for the plant zombies so they stop trying to eat my crew. With the addition of several new cadets over the past month or so, the Challenger’s activity level has exploded a bit. The senior staff has been hit a bit by real life this month, so their posting hasn’t been as impactful, but it’s a temporary curse and I expect to see that rebound rapidly in February. My plan is to have us quickly move into our next sim to keep this awesome group of cadets entertained and posting, while we handle graduation in a parallel timeline.

Spotlight: Ben Z. continues to be one of the most reliable members of the senior staff. His thread with his new science cadet has been a joy to read.

Executive Officer: Steve Johnson

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: Challenger had a pretty good month, especially coming back from the holidays. The few cadets we had posted really well, and we were able to basically wrap up the mission. Thank you to all of the crew for their continued hard work. Now to celebrate before we send the latest round of cadets into the main fleet.

Sim Overview: Sim is just about wrapped up. I am hoping to complete it in the next week or two. It was a little rushed at the end and I did have to cut some out due to the crew not picking up some of the hints. I may rerun it on a main fleet ship if I get the chance just to see how it plays out.

The next sim has been approved by Kat and will start shortly there after, likely 3-5 days after the completion of the current sim to allow side sims to wrap up.

Spotlight: Huge congratulations to the cadets who are graduating!

FComm’s Comments: Overall no major concerns for the Challenger. They appear to have things well in hand for the next mission once they’ve quickly finished up with the current one. They’ve also gotten a few new good cadets, so they’re off to the races!

USS Endeavour

Commanding Officer: No report submitted, excused.

Executive Officer: No report submitted, excused.

Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Sim Overview: Well I ditched the sim I was looking at and got into a fun ending with bringing Santa-Q on board for some Christmas fun and shenanigans.

FComm’s Comments: We’re still discussing the final fate of the Endy, but things have slowed right down. It’s expected, given we all know it’s just a matter of deciding what the Endy will look like when everything’s done. Expect more details shortly (I hope). It’s why there was only Gene’s submission, I left it optional for Terry to submit his and there really isn’t much to report with respect from a CO or XO perspective.
