The Meridian Fleet Report - February 2020

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: R Smith

Crew Posting Level: 4
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: Participation level is seems good, but some players are getting left behind.

Spotlight: Spotlights on Luke Hung, Sidney Parker, and John P. who play Science Officer Balfor Kolar, NPC medic Doctor Doolittle, and Security Officer Srothell Ch’zaolrirh for carrying the current episode on their shoulders. Well done! Spotlight on Tyra Schroll for her active participation despite the fact that she’s got at least one character serving on nearly every ship in the fleet.

Vacancies: We have a vacancy for a Chief Medical Officer.

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The Olinksi has been tasked to find a lost Starfleet transport ship the USS Sierra. The ship had landed on the planet to make repairs and got caught in a sandstorm. The Olinski crew are trying to understand why repairs were not made in orbit but on the planet. The CO, who had been in the Engineers Corps and is about to retire, had given his reasons but the Olinski crew still are not too convinced. At the same time, the Medical officers have determined that two passengers, a mother and her infant, would be transported to the Olinski. Although the infant is healthy, the mother, a Mrs. Pitch, insists that her child has been traumatised by the sandstorm. There was no need to quarantine them before boarding. At the same time, the Sierra is ready to fly after the help given by the Olinski.

FComm’s Comments: Kenson runs a good sim and it looks like several of the crew have picked it up and run with it well. Sidney is excused from the report with LOA, although there are a few longer term LOA’s that need to be looked into. Looks like chars simply being left on the roster a bit longer than needed. No worries about the Olinski though, she’s solid.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: We are starting a new SIM and it is going well. Only the human characters can go on the away mission...... for now. But we ate still waiting on a few to reply.

Spotlight: The GM for the story, the crew that keeps posting.

Vacancies: All JO’s and Engineering DH.

Executive Officer: Sam Pennington

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The new sim is kicking off. Despite things being a little slow in the last month, this looks interesting.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: CE, JOs everywhere

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Sim Overview: Straight 5’s for the Chernov this month, mainly due to some off/on loas and awols cropping up hindering sim progress from what I could have been. That said the Chernov has picked up odd scan results of two warp signatures near a planet in a nearby system which is home to a human like natives barely into the Medieval ages. How such a society could have done warp field tests is unknown. The captain is sending the human members of the crew down in a shuttle to secure a base camp. Which is where we’re kinda stuck waiting for two people to join in…

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: Glad to see Sam has slotted in well with his XO role here, and overall posting level wasn’t bad in January. Rob mentioned a few LOA’s and awols from the crew and the crew is still a little smaller than I’d like considering the sim’s reliance on specific people to post. The active or uninvolved members could always pick up a few NE’s to help move it forward of course so we do need to get together and make sure we aren’t bogging things down relying too much on specifics.

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Steven Sigle

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We are learning more about this uncharted sector of space as we try to learn just what the Romulans have been up to.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: CE is open for players.

Executive Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The Odin went fairly steady over January, with some good posting being done by a most of the crew.
Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Sim Overview: After rescuing a freighter from what seemed like a Romulan ship, the Odin gave chase. The strange thing is that the ship was not in the intelligence database. The Odin reaches a strange cluster of ships in a system that is outside Federation space. In fact it is not claimed by any major power. On contacting the ‘colony’ the Odin discovers that they are like an independent group of people from various systems. They do not answer to any power. When the CNS tries to read the people who answer their hails, she discovers that she cannot read them, in a similar situation like the Ferengi. A meeting is set up where two representatives from the ‘colony’ would board the Odin to negotiate. One is a Ferengi male and the other is a female which looks human but is unreadable like a Ferengi. The two are led to the conference room where they are in conference with the CO.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The Odin is going well. Solid posting and progress for a slow ship without any issues. A few Awol/LOA but nothing that is worrisome or causing issues. Good posting team, keep it up.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: David Shotton

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 4
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The Saracen slowed down somewhat over Jan, mainly because I haven’t been able to be as active as I should have been with a few things taking my time and attention in RL and through no fault of the crew. We’ll get back on track, Sam’s sim looks like it’ll be fun once we get into it proper.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: Junior Officers in all positions

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: The signals previously detected have been revealed to be a Son’a warship, hellbent on creating a “Son’a empire.” Their fanatical leader claims to be some sort of prophet, sent to save the Son’a.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: Chris is excused from the report this month, but the Saracen has been pretty slow over January with a few AWOL’s and LOA’s. The crew is all talented and great writers so once we get the main sim moving again the side sims will follow. Slowdowns happen once in a while and there are no concerns about an ongoing slump.
