Edict #5
“Nothing is so silly as the expression of a man who is being complimented.” - Andre Gide

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away… wait, wrong sci-fi franchise.

Anyhow, back when I was a brand new STF member in a year that need not be mentioned, I came across a more senior member as I added characters and started learning about STF. His name was synonymous with Outpost 45 and then Fleet 2, which he commanded for almost three years before deciding college was more fun than STF. I guess the StarCraft (1) ladder scene in the club wasn’t enthralling enough for him. ;) My first stint as Challenger CO came following in his footsteps and those were some big shoes to fill.

I returned to STF last year and I was amazed to see this long standing member back. As I caught up on the history I missed, I saw that he has had a quiet, but consistent presence in STF and STF government since his return. He was last promoted in 2015 and, since then, he has received several commendations for his work in STF. The common refrain I hear from others is that Steve is always willing to step up when he’s needed and he then gives whatever he’s stepped up to everything he has. The latest incident of this was several months ago, when David’s departure meant that James needed an experienced, solid Vice President and he turned to none other than… Steve Johnson.

So, I’m abusing my temporary powers here while he’s on LOA to promote Steve Johnson to Vice Admiral. Thank you, Steve.

Congrats Steve, well deserved!

Russell

PS Wait, you joined first of all in 2001, Sarah? Wow!

  • Public Nuisance of STF

Shhh, we don’t talk about that. :P

Sarah

Don’t make us feel older than we already are!

Also well deserved, Steve!

Geoff

Thank you all, and especially thank you Sarah. I knew you had some things up your sleeves when I was next going to disappear, but I was definitely not expecting this!

Steve

PS: And I was still playing in those Starcraft games. haha

Oh, I love a sneaky Edict! Congrats Steve. :D
