The Black Fleet Report - April 2020

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: Joe P

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: We’re really only limping along, but we are actually moving in the right direction, no matter how slowly. Ordinarily I’d be concerned, except a lot of the current slowness is pandemic related and I have a clear sense of what everyone’s deal is, so I don’t expect that it will be indefinite.

There were no crew changes to Europa in April.

Spotlight: Maybe next month?

Vacancies:

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: Activity has been decent if a bit slower. Understandable considering the trying circumstances everyone has been under. I hope everyone stays safe.

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Steady, that’s the only way to describe the ship right now. You’d think with all the work from home, there would be more activity, but that’s not how crises work. At least not for me, there is a loss of mental energy that diminishes my posting at the very least. I think the sim is rounding off. I’m looking forward to what is next. Its some good work for the ship and crew.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: CNS and Junior officers. …

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The USS Genesis encounters a new race of humanoids who call themselves Pallasians from the Pallas system. They are warp capable. The Genesis made first contact It was apparent that the Pallasians are ruled more like a socialist society even though they have free elections. The CSO, who is from the future, is strangely reluctant to deal with the Pallasians and yet not able to reveal what he knows of them in the future. The Pallasians request a formal entry into the Federation, after which the crew decide to make a more detailed assessment of the system. They discover that there is another planet in the system where the Pallasians have colonised for the resources the planet offered. A group of military personnel had rebelled and held their base on the moon of that colony.

Completing the assessment on the main Pallas planet, the XO officially bid departure from the Pallasian government. The CO, had led another away team to encounter and find out more about the rebels. He found out that the main rebel leader a general named Puck was holding families ransom and forcing military personnel to be part of the rebel force. The CO has decided to make a daring rescue and is about to execute his plan. After the hostages were rescued, the Genesis is returning to the home planet to deliver the hostages to the main government.

AFComm’s Comments: Looks like activity has been great. Everything and everyone are going to have other priorities but I’m pleased with how the Genesis performed in April. Great job guys/gals and stay safe.

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

Crew Posting Level: 3
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The Sim has only moved forward a little in the last month. Captain Glen is suffering from temporal abnormalities. A machine is being designed for him to personally carry. Meanwhile, in the Cargo Hold and much more extensive machine is being constructed to Daniel’s plans that will put an end to the Merrimack’s temporal abnormalities for ever. It will require a large amount of energy, to be supplied by the Warp drive from a dark matter nebula, so a local source has been identified and the ship is en route.

Unfortunately, we’ve lost two players this month. This is a huge setback when the crew is so small, but I’m encouraged that everyone else is keeping within posting guidelines under the present difficult situation world-wide and we are presently one of the few ships with a completely “green” roster.

Spotlight: Mike Monte (Hal) has been driving the conversation best this month. Kirt Gartner (Grunch) sometimes lets his gruff exterior shield fall. This is really a great place to play and it’s a pity more people don’t know about it or join us.

Vacancies: Any junior officer positions. Any custom character or swing position considered, such as Communication officer, Tactical/Weapons officer, Nurse, Navigator, Helm, Transporter Chief. You have an idea, contact the Captain directly.

Executive Officer: David Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: With the current global issue people are stressed and anxious. I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to post. It’s a catharsis for some and good for them but, not everyone turns into an author when activity restricted.

Spotlight: The whole crew is doing doing better than I am. LOL

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 5

Sim Overview: The Merrimack continues to move along, though we lost two players this past month for I guess real life concerns. Sim wise the CO is still in sickbay though has camera feeds to watch over the ship. In engineering construction continues on the temporal do hickey Daniels has them building to fix the temporal errors on the ship from getting worse. Bridge side the Merrimack prepares to scoop up gases from a nearby empty region of space.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: Activities looks to have progressed pretty well during April. There has been a drop in the roster unfortunately, but that’s where real life comes first. I hope everyone stays safe.

Oed V

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: I have to say that for a self directed sim environment it impresses me on how well activity seems to stay up. I’m pleased that things have picked up more after Russel took over as Governor in conjunction with Tony helping out. Stay safe folks.

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: Christopher Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: It’s been a slower month for the Olympic. We only had 79 posts for the month of April. I think a lot of that has to do with everything that is going on around the world.

The Olympic is investigating a couple of mysterious lifeforms. They have been beamed aboard and the crew is talking to them. One of these is a Star fleet officer from the past. They have given the Olympic some coordinates for a planet and the Captain has set course.

I am excited to see who these people are, what this Star fleet officer from the past got here and what his role is.

Spotlight: None

Vacancies: JO’s in every department.

Executive Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The sim continues as an alien entity has been loosed on the ship and has asked/ordered us to take it to a particular set of coordinates-the location of a desert world. What this enity wants there is still pen for debate and why was it in the stasis pod we discovered? And speaking of pods, we’ve discovered another with another humanoid inside. We’re keeping this one closed for the time being. We don’t need two alien entities taking control of the crew members or running amok all over the ship. No need to double the amount of questions we already have!!!

There’s only one side-sim currently running on the ship. Miriam’s CNS is running a VR adventure into the Underark. Gene and I are the only other people participating, so if anyone is having a hard time posting, jump in and join us as your favorite fantasy character!

Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: Activity is good but has slowed a bit during April. I’m a little concerned about some of the AWOL crew, but I understand that life is crazy for everyone right now. I’d recommend getting in touch with and checking on those who haven’t been around lately. Stay safe everyone.

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Geez, is it that time already?!?!?

The Machiavellian machinations of a mysterious manipulator still muzzle the efforts of the Wolverine’s marvelous crews efforts to discover the motive as to why the Captain’s mode of movement malfunctioned. Try that 5 times real fast!!

In other words, we still have figured out why the captain’s shuttle to Risa lost power. A toy was found on the shuttle that HAD to have something to do with it. Science and Engineering have been ordered to rip that toy apart down to it’s base elements if need be to get to the bottom of the mystery. It remains to be seen yet, if Section 31 had anything to do the the crash. Was it a attempt to silence former 31 operative Remy Boudreaux? Or is it something far more sinister than even 31?

And what is up with the intoxicating coin discovered by the two members of our security department? A magical coin that gets you drunk just by holding it? Talk about less filling!!!

Some nice side sims are going on as well. Locksley and Rhodes searching the beaches/jungles of Risa searching for old friends, the XO meeting new crew mwmbers, and a family reunion (of sorts), are keeping pretty much everybody busy.

Spotlight: This month’s spotlight is on Catt Bennett, the ships’s COS. Catt has been running a very enjoyable side sim involving Capt. Boudreaux meeting his descendants from a brief romantic encounter he had while at Black Rock (the family reunion mentioned above).

Catt is portraying her COS as well as three other members of the COS’ family and doing so effortlessly to keep the story moving. As confusing as time travel and the repercussions of it are, she is doing a great job separating everybody’s comments, actions, and personalities separate!!! I’m really enjoying the story as well.

Vacancies: We need a Counselor!!! But that seems to be the case for a number of ship’s currently. It takes a certain type of person to play the CNS role. I wonder if that is the reason there seems to be a lack of them in the club currently.

We could also use a few more JO’s. I would like to see at least one more in engineering and science.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Jason Lee

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Sim Overview: The ship is currently in R&R, but there is a mystery brewing that will turn into the full sim soon.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: Activity is a little slower, but being mid sim it is definitely understandable. The crew look to be engaged fairly well in their R&R activities. Stay safe folks.

Captain Matt Evans
AFComm Black Fleet

Just FYI I did a Report on OED for April. It was a few weeks back so maybe I missed a deadline but I did one well before this submission.

Sidney

According to a review of database records, you have a report that was Oed V that was submitted today, May 9. Your most recent report before that was on April 9.

If you are sure there was something else you submitted, we can check further to find out if there was an error.

Joe
