Lindsay Bayes informed the Engineering Department of an error regarding the iteration of the USS Athena. The Log listed the current USS Athena as the Athena-D due to an error which existed at the time of the change from the Athena-C to the Athena-D, causing the replacement USS Athena at the time to be edicted as remaining the Athena-C. As such, the current USS Athena is actually the Athena-E. The error is being addressed.

Two questions:
1) When I raised the Athena issue in 2016, no action was taken at the time - I thought we were just ignoring it? The Athena’s error is due to a typo in Johnson #9 for those keeping track…
2) I raised a similar issue last year about the Atlantis and a related error in Sinclair #15 (Sinclair #15 caused the Atlantis to jump from “-A” to “-D”, skipping B and C). Again, my understanding was the plan was just to ignore it, but I think it’s important for us to be consistent in how these errors are addressed.
When I discovered these errors when putting the Ship Histories together ( https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aAVfskiRdXlBq-mOXvIUycIThf7Xz03tRkhNfAvwWAk/edit?usp=sharing ), I wrote the following until I received more information:
For the Athena:
On September 30, 2013, the ship was recommissioned as the USS Athena NCC-71819-C, Mythology-class. (This appears to be a typo in the edict, as the Trafalgar-class Athena was also the Athena-C, but the edict refers to her as the Athena-B. The ship’s crew continued to refer to the Athena as the Athena-C.)
For the Atlantis:
Also on November 30, 2019, the ship was recommissioned as the USS Atlantis NCC-97022-D, Mythology-class. [What happened to the Atlantis-B or Atlantis-C? An edict error, what was still being addressed at the time of the most recent update.]
