The Foremost Fleet Report - September 2020

USS Ark Angel

Commanding Officer: No report submitted - Excused - LOA

Executive Officer: No report submitted - Excused (Vacant! This could be you next month! apply to Rob!)

Gamemaster: Katy Darrah

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: Questions and evals await the guests on the Ark Angel as they need to head towards the location of this planet named Pandiri.

Spotlight: Everyone.

Seriously. Everyone on the ship has just been awesome to me during my GMT

FComm’s Comments: FComm: The AA has had a not bad month when it comes to posting. Some crew changes have taken place and resulted in both the CNS and CSO roles coming available along side the XO post. Rob is on a hunt and I’m excited to see some new blood getting involved with the good writing going on. Katy’s GMT sim has gotten off to an interesting start which has been a good read so far.

Moving forward this month the goals for the AA is to fill it’s DH and XO spot.

USS Leviathan

Commanding Officer: Sharon Miller

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: A small but important moment of victory for the crew of the Leviathan this month, as their bravery and skill saw them successfully contain not one, but two, anomalies. The relic known as Andromeda’s Tomb was pried from the greedy hands of Ferengi scavengers and given a new home in our Abell-level containment wing, with the Sandman dispatched by a Chief Engineer at the very limits of his game-playing patience.
And in the Jörmungandr Lounge, the concentrated-nitrogen cloud, Ullr, was also successfully captured, saving not only the lives of the Leviathan’s crew but also Captain Cobb’s prized fish!

But triumph, as always, was short lived and already the exhausted crew have found themselves besieged by several new terrors. A ripple through the fabric of a parallel spacetime spoke of danger approaching for the Leviathan’s crew from a pair of very familiar hands. While on the containment deck, an overloaded power grid, courtesy of the charmingly irritating Mr Bog, saw Captain Manhattan’s RTF team thrown into a nightmare scenario - the release of our most dangerous captive, Dave. And ship’s Counselor, Synthi-er, was besieged by memories from her past that will require some of the Leviathan’s top minds to help her resolve.
And finally, on the holodeck the Captain attempted to lighten the mood with a Halloween party that has been besieged by not only gremlins and imps, but the very image of the devil himself!

September saw the anomaly that is real life continue to assail several posters, so we had a few LOA’s and AWOL’s to contend with. But as October approached things seemed to settle down and we got our XO, Jake, back from his own LOA. The crew are still making light work of our self-simming model, with adventures and anomalies all over the ship, not to mention some fantastic, and wonderfully written, character development from all. We also welcomed onboard two new players - William Deaton and Leonora V, whose fascinating characters will fit right in with the rest of this motley crew. At the time of submitting this report, we’d made a satisfactory 425 posts, which, while slightly down on last month, still puts us amongst the busiest ships in the club.

For October, I expect all of our newest anomaly encounters to ramp up the pace and keep the crew engaged. I also have a couple more players interested in roles and we’re just working out characters and positions, so I hope to grow our roster further as well. Other that that it will just be business as usual because business, for the ARU, is looking very good!

Spotlight: This is a crew brimming with talent (as the range of players who have won my casual ‘line of the night’ award constantly displays), but one particular character can be blamed for me regularly showering my keyboard with gin! For his incredible wit, sparkling turn of phrase, questionable personal hygiene and the best Halloween thread arrival I have ever read, I have to give this month’s spotlight to the legend that is Tellarite engineer Tellek Bog, and his creator, Charles Stevens!

Vacancies: Security JO’s
Science JO’s
Engineering JO’s
Medical JO’s
Swings

(All of these roles allow the opportunity to also be a member of the Recovery Task Force or the Scientific Research Corps - please just ask me if you would like to know more)

Executive Officer: J Ridgley

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Another strong month from the crew with the closing down of a couple of long ongoing ‘anomalies’ and the continuation of our voyage and subsequent new ongoing posts. A slightly lower posting total with 427 totals posts for September which in this current climate fo people returning to work, school and other real-life commitments we are not overall concerned and 427 posts is still a very healthy limit to have reached.

At the current time of this report, we have just two LOAs and one AWOL neither of which we are overall concerned about and have open communications with the individuals.

September has been a good month and I look forward into October where several key members are already developing their character plots and development for the season of Halloween!

Spotlight: The biggest spotlight for this month for me needs to go to Jennifer Ward and Samuel Stroud they in my absence due to an LOA carried a plot to its finality with both dedication and skill, it is reassuring that with these kinds of Department heads we as a crew will continue to grow from strength to strength. That being said as always the crew have been outstanding in both their writing commitments and the enthusiasm.

Vacancies: Vacancies: Security JO’s
Science JO’s
Engineering JO’s
Medical JO’s
Swings
(All of these roles allow the opportunity to also be a member of the Recovery Task Force or the Scientific Research Corps - please just ask me if you would like to know more)

Gamemaster: No report submitted - And I should hope not since the ship is self sim but given it’s an anomaly specialist ship if a GM report appears I will assume that it’s a monster or a deamon and summon the crew to help! In the meantime Mel and Ben and I are going to Ghost proof the fleet offices! Pass the garlic!

FComm’s Comments: FComm: A great month for the Levi. Some awesome storylines and character development going on. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the ship and the roller coaster of anomaly and drama threads. Amazing work from Sharon, Jake and everyone on the ship. I know the ship is busy working on it’s ship page and that should be developing over the next few weeks.

I’d like to take this opportunity to officially welcome the Levi to the fleet since I missed it last month and say I am excited to see the ship develop further over the coming months.

Moving forward for the next month the goals for the levi is to continue developing it’s world and to keep up the momentum it has started with.

USS Asimov

Commanding Officer: Ben Simons

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Currently on the planet, but things are starting to get moving again, though we do still have a couple of AWOLs that I’ve reached out to. Hopefully now that things are moving again we can get things going on the sim.

Spotlight: This month goes to the XO for helping with the transition with a new captain, and helping to keep things running smoothly.

Vacancies: 1x Engineering JOs
2x Medical JOs

Executive Officer: Sam Pennington

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 4
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: In a weird month, Tyra stepped down as CO, and Ben joined. We’re lucky that Tyra was able to remain onboard as the CoS.

Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: Jason Lee

Crew Posting Level: 3
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 3

Sim Overview: The ship is crashed on a planet in a different universe. The ship is attempting to repair the ship, and exploring the planet.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: FComm: Bit of a troubling month for the Azzy as it settles from the change in CO, which was to be expected. There are a few issues with LOAs and AWOLs that certainly need to be addressed over the coming weeks in order to ensure the ship is classified as healthy once more.

Moving forward the goals for the Azzy is to ensure it is FComm compliant in that firstly it’s DH compliment are filled and within posting limits and that the ship is stable enough to qualify for new members again. I intend to work with both Sam and Ben on a plan to meet this goal.

SS Bonaventure

Commanding Officer: Melissa Aragon

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Still need a GM but James’ character (Baumann) got pretty good “things to come” brief for his character from old GM before they left. So we are pushing the sim forward to keep everyone engaged. Encouraging character development as well.

Spotlight: James Sinclair for keeping the sim going with his notes and helping me keep the ship moving and alive.

Vacancies: GM

One more Marine will give us a DH/JO in every dept. Then can work on swing and other JO positions. Hesitant to do that yet with no GM.

Executive Officer: Steve Johnson

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Overall the Bonnie is still slowly moving along. Unfortunately we lost out GM this past month, but the crew has still been moving along thanks to help from James. It is a slow moving simm, but hopefully we can keep everyone entertained until a new GM is in place.

Spotlight: Spotlight this month is James Harrison. He has been invaluable in helping keep the simm moving forward while we work on finding a new GM.

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: No report submitted - Vacant! This could be you! Apply to Mel for this awesome opportunity

FComm’s Comments: FComm: The bonnie has had a good month despite the loss of Kevin as GM. A huge thanks has to go to James who has been working hard with Mel and Steve to continue the sim while a new GM can be hunted. There’s some good character development going on.

Moving forward the goal for the bonnie is to continue developing as it has been and to fill that GM post as soon as possible.

So if you are a GM this is an exciting opportunity for you to get involved in our only ENT era environment!

USS Manhattan

Commanding Officer: James Sinclair

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The ship is currently in orbit around Graven. Multiple energy-based life forms are on board and the crew is trying to establish communications with them.

Spotlight: D Grisham has excelled in fleshing out the Mahattan’s Counselor, from personal development side sims to taking lead in the main and trying to track and communicate with the beings on board.

Vacancies: JO’s all departments

Executive Officer: Steven Sigle

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The Manhattan is full steam with her hands in so many cookie jars it can be daunting to keep track. Between our mission in the delta quadrant, Faye’s possible “betrayal” or the Chief Tactical Officer trying to kick out her fiance’, the XO, from their quarters, there is always something to find stirring on the Manhattan.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: Any and all JOs are welcome, as well as swings.

Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: Slowed down this month as I was away for some of it, some planned and some not so planned, though partly too due to a not so bright move on my part that I thought was a good idea .. night falls on Graven XII and the planetary occupants go to sleep, and something wakens. Their spirits? Symbiots? Something else? Aboard the ship as night fell, at least on the planet, the doctors strove to stabilize and save one of the Gravenians seriously wounded in a vehicle accident. The Counselor in her second sight per se, saw the psychic trails of the ‘loosed’ spirits and traced them along through the ship through medical areas and up into the Captain’s quarters only to lose it after they shared a touch. October will see the day returning and the last phase in the sim.

Spotlight: The crew for putting up with my absences this month …

FComm’s Comments: Great month for the Manhattan, despite a couple of LOAs, as always story lines that delight and thrill and are a joy to read. It is my secret ship crush in terms of reading I have to admit, some awesome soap opera style drama with love, romance, excitement and suspense! What more could you want?

Moving forward the goal for the manhattan this coming month is to continue working on it’s engagement and developing as it has been.

USS Memorial

Commanding Officer: Kirt Gartner

Crew Posting Level: 3
Senior Staff Posting Level: 3
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: The ship is on its way back to Starbase 243 after its patrol ended The captain is thinking about a little side trip to a nearby star system for some combat exercises

Spotlight:

Vacancies: Will be re-evaluating crew soon and will have an updated list eventually :P

Executive Officer: Jared Kurz

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: We are wrapping up our sim as we await the arrival of a new GM. The two ships we were looking for now appear to have never been anywhere nearby. We seem to be chasing subspace echoes that are being emitted by the nearby blackhole, and then reflected back to us by local phenomena. How we even received this mission will likely remain a mystery. I hate temporal mechanics… We should be retrieving our away team on the Flying Angel soon, and will be ready to depart this area for our next assignment.

Spotlight: I would like to recognize BJ Janzen, Jeff VanZilen, and Melissa Aragon for their continued efforts on the Flying Angel.

Vacancies: Chief Engineer; Science (x1); Security (x1)

Gamemaster: No report submitted - Vacant! This could be you! Apply to Kirt directly for a great opportunity!

FComm’s Comments: Bit of a troubling month for the Memorial due to the loss of its GM which has had an impact on the overall engagement of the crew, something Kirt and Jared are working to resolve. The side sims to keep things ticking over could use a bit more input from senior staff.

Moving forward the goal for the memo is to fill it’s missing DH post and make sure that any crew members on extended posting limits are dealt with, as well as fill it’s missing GM post.

Any GMs looking for a new ship or to get back into GMing the memorial is an exciting opportunity to get involved with with a hard working command team!

Overall Comments:

A few ups and downs for the Foremost fleet this month with some great writing and work on ships happening and a few areas where there is room for improvement. I am confident that all of the command teams can continue to go from strength to strength and improve where needed and I tend to discuss a specified target with those ships who have more to do to ensure they manage to reach their goals over the next month.

We have a few amazing opportunities in the fleet in the form of GM vacancies and an XO soot with a talented CO mentor who js specifically looking to train someone new to the role. This is an exciting time to get involved and if you are considering being an XO or GM I would 100% encourage you, whoever you are, to reach out and contact Rob or to take the GM exam and get involved if you aren’t already a GM or the COs in question if you are one looking to get back to GMing or just fancy another ship.

There has been a lot of discussion across the club recently about Fleet identity, so in an effort to work out what our identity is as the foremost fleet we are going to hold some discussion p, firstly with the command teams and their ships and the con the starbase (We may as well use it for something right!?) to get an idea of what our fleet identity might be and how we can support it more going forward this term. I’m hoping we get as many people from across the fleet involved as possible with this, after all there is no fleet identity or fleet without all of the fantastic players we have on all the ships!

I’m also looking at the fleet static pages which dramatically need an update! Maybe the two things can be connected? Stay tuned for this.

The Continuing Adventures of the Mysterious Aquatic D!

Having saved the damsel and escaped certain doom in our last installment today’s adventure sees our hero on routine patrol in the area of space near the Romulan neutral zone where he picks up on an odd distress signal. Unlike anything me has encountered before in the world of humanoids and dolphin the Mysterious Aquatic D immediately attempts to use the computer to try and decode the mysterious signal. The computer whirs and works it’s way through the command, deciding that what they can hear is an old Folk ritual however! Before our hero can work out what it means the computer suddenly goes berserk! And the ship begins a warp nine journey to an undisclosed location in the middle of Romulan space!!! Will our hero gain control of his ship before the Romulans find him? Where is the mysterious code taking him? Stay tuned for the next installment of the continuing adventures of the Mysterious Aquatic D!!!

The September Foremost Fleet report, brought to you by the Number 6, the colour Orange and the operatic masterpiece Nessun dorma. No anomaly’s or Operatic singers were harmed in the making of this report.
