Snip

The first sentence of the first paragraph under the heading “Definition” in the section entitled “Alternative RPG Areas” currently reads:

“Alternate RPG Areas are those areas where RPGs take place that do not meet one or more of the characteristics for Standard Ships.”

This is hereby amended to read:

“Alternate RPG Areas are those areas where RPGs take place that do not meet one or more requirements of this bylaw.”

This makes it sound like Alt RPG’s have the freedom to ignore any requirements in the bylaw they want to. Which is kind of odd as the bylaw has specific requirements for Alt RPG’s that don’t make sense for them to ignore.

I think a better way to do this that I think is going in the same direction that you’re trying to go is to zero in on any statements in the bylaw that you want Alt RPG’s to have the freedom to ignore. Then take those and make it clear, if they aren’t already, that they apply specifically to Standard ships.

For example, I would take this sentence and make it clear that the CO’s being referred to are standard ship CO’s.

“COs are encouraged to use strict discretion when allowing non-canon positions, character types, and second player characters so that their ship maintains a healthy, fun, and canon-compatible role playing environment.”

My understanding from the debate Daniel and I had earlier was that he was interpreting this sentence as applying to standard ships already. So if we just make it explicitly state that I believe we could leave the sentence you were suggesting changing as it was and acheive the same objective in a better way.

Adam W.

Unless there are any disagreements with this, I’m fine going forward with this wording instead. I believe it would be something like, “COs of Standard Ships are encouraged… COs of Alt-RPGs are encouraged to use use discretion as appropriate to fulfill their Alt-RPG’s charter requirements.”

I can re-propose this, but unless anyone objects, I don’t know that we need to have another whole week long waiting period. EGO?

The three members of EGO let me know privately that they are comfortable with this being placed in a bill since it has been a week since Adam’s proposal. This discussion is now closed.

Thank you,
