The Pioneer Fleet Report - September 2020

I must apologise that this report is very late. I will be addressing any issues over the coming days and will explain in Command my absence and apologise for this tomorrow

USS Athena

Commanding Officer: Lindsay Bayes

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: A quieter month for the Athena due to many LOAs (some not listed on the roster so looked AWOL), and a general busyness for much of the crew in RL. BUT! We have just wrapped up our sim more or less with the odd detail to tie up. Now we can finally have our new crew properly board and start their check-ins, as well as deal with some other transitions. Miriam has decided to try a new XO character, so she is starting that transition, and due to RL stuff, a couple other players have either stepped down entirely, or are taking a hiatus from their character for a little while.

We’re still discussing some post-sim antics that might include some sort of cross-over on fleet Starbase, but we’re re-evaluating where the crew is at and what the best plan is.

Spotlight: Ian, for persevering and still wrapping up the sim with an interesting finish. It took us a lot longer for many reasons, but he was always willing to adapt to the needs of the crew and as a CO, I can’t ask my GM for much more.

The crew as a whole for being patient with the sometimes slow progress (and their CO’s crappy health), and for always giving me insight into your interesting characters. We have such a wonderful dynamic and I am, as always, very proud to be your captain.

Vacancies: 1x Sci JO

Executive Officer: Miriam W

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: There are a few steady side sims that have been going on for a while, a few new ones as well. The main sim is just about finished, which is exciting given that we’ve been on it for what feels like 2 years.

Gamemaster: Ian Kerby

Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Sim Overview: Between sims

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: 100% all 3 reports great work Athena. Taking a look over the comments made by the command team as a whole and the ships condition to date I dont have any real concerns as Linds noted its been a slower month due to LOA’s something which I personally have been affected by over the last few weeks but I feel that LOA’s are understandable at this time but as always lets pull together and wish for a smashing october!

USS Atlantis

Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 10
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: The Atlantis is posting within limits for a crew of her size and speed. The main sim is moving along nicely with Kelly and Company now attending a dinner party with pirates. This will take some creative wording in the fleet report to Starfleet HQ to explain where the Jolly Rogers bumper sticker came from on the left nacelle.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: We are always accepting crew. If you have an idea we have a spot.

Executive Officer: Gene Gibbs

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The ship is in an unknown region of space. Even though we’ve not been there long we’ve chased pirates, parlayed with them and helped to patch up a damaged transport ship. Right now we’re working on fathoming how to proceed next. The ship needs repairs and the pirate ship may just be able to assist there, whether that offer is substantively taken up or not. The repairs on the transport are nearing an end as has the parlay so I forsee more action in this next month .

Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Sim Overview: I fine the ship overall quite healthy. The sim is moving in fits and starts and the crew seems to have fallen backwards into a possible ally. Maybe not the ally they wanted but the ally they needed.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: I would like to apologise for my absence as FComm for this period. I look forward to getting back to normal over the next few days

USS Chimera

Commanding Officer: Katherine Dedul

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Overall the ship status is great, no complaints from me. We’re finished our latest simm, thanks to Gene for guiding us along. We’re taking a short break and then Gene has some more excitement for us to enjoy I’m sure. :)

Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Executive Officer: AJ Paulson

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: We just wrapped up the transition Sim. The Chimera has made it back to the Starbase for repairs with the help of the Markham.

Spotlight: Gene- for being patient with us
Kat- for helping me out with XO responsibilities.
Steve- for working his CE magic with the repairs
Ray- for noticing a bridge officer’s comment from the Markham
Cale- for Riley’s “gentle hands” in treating the injured
Thomas- for keeping me on my toes

Vacancies: JO’s in all departments

Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: This ‘middle’ sim, or connector was to be a short event while the Chimera sorted out its senior staffing. Essentially a failure in a driver coil caused a large explosion in one of the impulse engines which sent the already structurally challenged ship spinning in space with fires, injuries and more. As a nearby ship, the Markham, sped toward them to help the ship strove to solve the mystery of why the explosion happened and to save the people and stop the fires before it spread too far.

Toward the end of September this connector sim was closed off and I will be beginning a new on this month.

USS Dresden

Commanding Officer: Joana Ribeiro

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The Dresden has remained steady through the month of September. With the new sim underway and sidesims happening alongside, there’s been quite a number of posts made during the last month. There were a number of short AWOLs and LOAs but nothing out of the ordinary that warrant any worry. We’ve also had two new members joining the crew: Jennifer Ward as our new CNS, Lt. Bethany Gadi, and Kelsy Rice, a new club member, as Riari Vaais, a Medical JO. They are both incredible writers with amazing and detailed character concepts and I’ve been enjoying immensely reading their interactions with the crew.

Spotlight: This month I would like to spotlight Jennifer Ward. She’s been on board for less than a month but it is clear that she’s already found her home among the crew. Her posts are wonderful to read and from the moment that she arrived, she’s been engaging in very different and creative ways with almost every member of the crew! Each storyline is different and an amazing read and I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Vacancies: JOs in all departments

Executive Officer: Ben Z

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The Dresden’s main sim is now well underway, with Act 1 in full swing! Each department has been given a very interesting task of some public relations work while we’re en route to the Julian Echo station, which has been fun to see how each character handles prying eyes! We have had several side sim threads as well, both with introductions between characters and continuations of individuals character development. Overall, the Dresden is doing well and sailing smoothly, and now that we have settled into our new sim, recruitment is even more exciting than ever! We would love to have some JOs join our ship, as we are anticipating a big operations in Act 2, and may need multiple away teams each with members from all departments! Contact either Joana or I if you are interested in writing with us!

Spotlight: William Deaton and his character Isaac Forgrave for being a backbone of the Dresden as always! He is always happy to jump into side sims, and it’s awesome to see his level of initiative to both tell Forgrave’s story, and help other stories progress as well with his excellent use of NEs. The Dresden would not be the same without him, and we are lucky to have such a wonderful writer and storyteller as our Chief of Security!

Vacancies: JOs in all departments

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: I would like to apologise for my absence as FComm for this period. I look forward to getting back to normal over the next few days

USS Ogawa

Commanding Officer: Calé Reilly

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The pwie has slowed this month mainly due to my LOA and ill health. However the sim wrapping up nicely with a cure that seems to be working! We are hopeful that the new specmwill be ready soon so we will finish this sim and have a small crossover with the athena before we start the new sim on the new ship. I’m excited!

Spotlight: Linda for being such an amazing XO and Geoff for his sim. Gotta spotlight Jennifer and Mel who’s work on the cure has been good to read and see. Nick for his character as always and Brandon for the awesome portrayal of the white rabbit. Honestly everyone! I’m so proud of the owie crew.

Vacancies: Engineering JO

Executive Officer: Lindsay Bayes

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: A slower month for us, but the ship remains, as always, delightful. I would say that about half the crew was LOA at some point in the month, and others (ahem, myself) we’re just plain slow or unwell and would slip over limits without realizing that days had passed. But we’re making headway on the sim and with a plan of action the unaffected crew should be able to help their poor hallucinating crew mates. Hopefully before Queen Willow does away with any heads.

Side sims continue, if slower, and I am loving all the interactions.

Spotlight: Jennifer has really jumped in after getting settled on the ship and has been doing her best to have her character interact with different people.

Ty, for writing such interesting posts and an engaging character. Each post is worth waiting for.

Vacancies: 1 x Eng JO

Gamemaster: Geoff Joosten

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Sim Overview: The sim is winding down. The crew has about finished all of the objectives so we should be about done. Very likely by next month which hopefully will be about the time the new ship is ready

Spotlight: Linds has really been helping move the story forward in Cale and I’s spotty ability to post these last couple of weeks, though there are so many people that have really gotten into the sim that I can’t name them all.

FComm’s Comments: I would like to apologise for my absence as FComm for this period. I look forward to getting back to normal over the next few days

Outpost 42

Commanding Officer: Adam W.

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Another quieter month than the previous one, but still a healthy amount of activity for our posting rate on the Outpost with eighty-some posts. The main sim has been quite long, but it’s been a delight and lately it’s felt like the activity has been picking up. A couple of crazy time travelers are engaged with some of the crew while other of the crew try to keep the fragments of the artifact out of the hands of the invading force. We continue to be in the nice position of having all key positions filled.

There was a recent tangential discussion in Command where there was some back and forth about whether or not location of the fleets mattered to the average roleplayer on our ships. Outpost 42, unlike all of our other roleplaying environments, does not move, so location is important. The Outpost is very near both Romulan and Klingon space, something that is highlighted anywhere we described the Outpost and a fact that myself and others will bring up from time to time in character. We have both Klingons and Romulans as rostered characters. The XO was formerly stationed on nearby Outpost 23. And Melissa’s character is very specifically on Outpost 42 because of its proximity to Romulus, where the answers to her family’s past lie. I don’t know if location matters for our many ships. But location matters here.

Spotlight: Dave Shotton recently stepped down from the Outpost and will be greatly missed. His writing is always fantastic. I felt like I got to really know Duncan Rhodes and his refined personality. And more recently he brought Captain Khain, who is a completely different kind of character, a Klingon that jokes about stabbing pirates. Hopefully Dave will be back in not too long.

Vacancies: None.

Executive Officer: Kate O’Neill

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The Outpost is chugging along at a pace for its size and crew compliment. The main sim is moving along with the COS beaming back on the OP with the chip intact. The alien ship is stuck in the middle, literally, of the alien ship. I can’t wait to see what happens now.
