First, I wanted to express my deepest appreciation to Linds and Silke for running this survey and for everyone who voiced an opinion. Really, thank you.

Interpretation:
It is worth trying the book club again, and we have some idea about how to run it so it’s as flexible as possible. This includes doing monthly themes, rather than just a specific book, and also having a rotating person who runs the discussion each month.

Has there been any thought to using Discord for this? I’ve participated in a couple of book clubs recently and I feel like they flow a bit better when you can jot down a sentence as you read a particular chapter and engage in casual discussion in a way that I’m not entirely sure a forum-based system allows.

Indeed we have! If the new set-up of our Discord channels allows for it, it was a part of the re-jigging process to get a book-club channel added. Though I still think it’s very important that activities such as the book club largely take place on the boards because we do have members who are not on Discord and I never want to go out of our way to exclude them from participating. I do also think that having a running thread per book club selection would allow for that casual commentary you speak of.

Yeah, I agree that we definitely need to balance the Discord/Exodus usage. Thinking of my own habits, I’m usually on Discord while I’m reading since I read on my phone, so it’s a little easier to hop there to make a snide comment than to open up STF.
