The Black Fleet Report - March 2021

USS Constellation

Commanding Officer: Brian Richards

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: March was a strange month, we had our fare share of LOA’s and some AWOLS that have been removed from the roster and that is going to necessitate some new positions being opened up, but for the crew that was active they were engaged and posting. We’ve re-re-re started our sim and so far we’ve blown up a bunch of children all the while Captain is supposed to be on paternity leave. There is a side sim running in an alt-timeline where we’re hosting a pan-federation gathering honoring the Saurian delegate’s molting. Each crew member has a job and with the Tony’s in charge of something you know there will be cigarette smoke and a rough New York accent to follow.

Executive Officer: Melissa Aragon

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: How are the DHs and JOs doing?
Everyone seems to be getting along. The sim is going and we have somehow blown up an asteroid full of children ‘on accident’ lol Not sure where this is going, but should be interesting.

Is everyone active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?
We are finally getting side sims up and running and with my return from LOA I am hoping to get more side sims going with the crew to build character interactions.

Who is the shining star this month?
Sadly, I don’t have anyone to nominate due to being gone. But I definitely give kudos to the CO for running the ship and keeping her going.

What are we going to work on next month?
I want to work on building the JO staff and character interactions with those on the ship.

Vacancies: All JOs

Gamemaster: Russell Watt

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: After discussion with Brian, the decision has been made to restart the sim. The ship is now about to be grasped by a giant hand in retaliation for accidentally firing a torpedo at a sacred asteroid of a new alien race. The consequence of which? Well let’s just say nobody expects the madness of the tribble

Spotlight: All the crew, especially Brian who is incredibly understanding and supportive.

AFComm’s Comments: Wow what a breath of fresh air that a new CO brings. I’m really glad to see such growth in such a short time. Keep it up Connie.

FComm’s Comments: While the missing reports are excused due to LOAs, there has been a lot of AWOLs this month.

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: Ship continues to do well. We have just wrapped up one sim and Kenson Koh rolled right into the next. The ship seems to have found life in slightly off course star-system. They have yet to alert the Captain, but I’m okay with it because it gives the other players space and time to spread their wings. There is some activity on two/three long side sims. We have a little love boat going on with Dagen and Reia…, and the happy nuptials of T’Lora and Ben

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The creature that the Genesis had been tracking has reached its destination. It went through the anomaly and the anomaly diminished until it was no longer present. The probe that the Genesis sent through the anomaly was destroyed but not before it sent back data to be analysed. With that the sim ended.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The Genesis has been seen a lot of consistency with their posting level and lower AWOL rates. I’m really impressed with Luke and his command team!

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: We are well into the middle of this present Sim now. The landing party has met with the Alstairean Tri-Council, and while polite, there remain some unanswered questions. Of course, this reticence to divulge information may simple be politeness, and the difficulty of using the Universal Translator. In orbit, the Merrimack has detected another ship of a similar design to the Alstairean vessel. Is this one of their returning Cryo-ships, or is it something more sinister? The ship is lacking Communications, and if it is a Cryo-ship then it will be very low on fuel, so Glen has been asked if the Merrimack can assist it. Captain Glen has a bad feeling about all this - the landing party on a unfamiliar planet, separated and split up, with the Merrimack leaving them - it sounds like a recipe for something. Glen is requesting that a shuttlecraft be sent to the surface before the Merrimack goes away. However, he is still very keen that this First Contact goes smoothly without any diplomatic incidents and the problems might all be in his head.
We’ve had one leaver this month, several long LOAs and currently have two long AWOLs. I’m on the case and will follow up. The Sim has been moving forward with everyone involved at some point, but personal circumstances have stalled it a few times. As always, I’d like to get people to post more frequently, with longer and more open-ended posts.

Spotlight: Sorry, there is no stand-out scenes or characters this month, however, the main Sim is a good read, as always. Everyone takes part and it often reads like a book.

Vacancies: Contact the Captain directly about vacancies on the USS Merrimack. The ship is 90% Human, although TOS Movie-era aliens are allowed. You can play a Junior Officer, or your pick of any custom character you can think of - Nurse, Yeoman, Navigator, Helm, Captain’s Chef, Ship’s Historian, Ship’s Physicist, and Transporter Chief.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Rob is excused for this month’s report. David has done a great job in keeping the Merri active over the past month despite the LOAs and AWOLs he mentioned above. Great job!

Oed V

Commanding Officer: James Sinclair

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Oed is in a state of transition. With a new incoming governor, new arrivals, and the return of former residents; the colony is starting to grow. And apparently ‘growth’ is the name of the game for the new governor. Having hired a new Terraforming Director and making it clear that he intends to reclaim the planet form the devastation of the comet strike all those years ago; Oed is in for some serious changes.

Hopefully, they will be mostly good.

Spotlight: D Grisham as Sinayda Nyx, the shadowy assistant to the new governor, is intriguing and bringing an edge to the colony that is quite subtle… but very sharp.

Hjortur Ingi as Joseph Karlson, the Police Commissioner, has kept a level head and supplied the often problematic Klingon contingent a steady support.

Vacancies: Star Fleet Roles:
Chief Star Fleet Medical Officer
Chief Star Fleet Science Officer
Commander Air - Space Group
JAG

Civilian Roles:
Director of Building and Construction
Director of Education
Director of Spaceport and Orbital Facilities

Oed is open to unusual and creative roles as well.

Executive Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: With James being announced as the new Governor we have seen a flurry of posting in the last week. I am a little worried as most of the posting is being driven by James himself and that is ok for now. However we need to see that sustained with others or James will burn out quickly pulling the weight of OED behind him. However so far so good with the new start.

Spotlight: James Sinclair in several roles

Vacancies: rebuilding the roster right now so there are a lot but not too bad.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: I know James and Oed can fill-up the roster pretty quickly. Thank you again James for stepping up. Now let’s see what you can do next month

Gamemaster: No report submitted

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: James Sinclair

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Orbiting Risa, the crew of the Wolverine has been tasked with the locating and retrieval of certain objects of interest to a shadowy organization that seems to have plans for the ship and her crew. Those plans have resulted in the abduction of the Chief Engineer, and the crew is trying to ascertain how best to address both of these issues.

Spotlight: Jason Lee - As a GM, Jason is one of the best; but the characters he has on board in the form of Lt. Mado and the esteemed Admiral Mado works for are truly irritating… I mean fun. Yeah.. fun… thats what I said.

Vacancies: JO’s all departments

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: The Wolverine has slowed down a bit since last month, but it appears that the sim has moved further since then. Other than the occasional AWOL, nothing to poke at here.
