The Foremost Fleet Report - May 2021

USS Ark Angel

Commanding Officer: Robert Archer

How is your ship looking overall? Overall the ship is doing pretty good, we got a few loas/awols at present or this past month but they been pretty well handled and for the rest of the crew they are side simming or moving ahead with the side plots of the main sim

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The runabout crew accidently killing one of the poor newly discovered life forms called ‘reality bubbles’ also making a mini-version of the PC Fayth

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Getting the loas/awols sorted is my main priority as well as moving the sim ahead to the next segment.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The current main sim is being broken down into several parts at present.

1) Medical is dealing with an errant comm call from the nearby alien trade space station trying to sell/buy Enlightenment
2) Science/Engineering is dealing with study of the Reality Bubbles in a nearby Fulcrum runabout where they just accidently killed one of the life forms and created a mini-version of the CSO Fayth
3) Engineering’s CE and CNS are having an encounter with a Q in the hallways
4) Security is mostly relaxing and patrolling
5) Collectively folks are side simming in the main sim timeline dealing with the vast distance they have been flung by Q and how they might get home

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Though my XO is currently on loa their help this past month in managing awols and such up to that point was a big help for me!

FComm’s Comments: Watching the sims has been interesting. Great diversity. Several threads happening.
AWOLs and LOAs under control.
Ship in good health overall.

USS Asimov

Commanding Officer: Sam Pennington

How is your ship looking overall? The Asimov continues to improve. We have recruited new members and increased engagement. The sim has ended, and people are exploring some side sims right now.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? There’s been a long thread between the XO and CE that I’ve enjoyed reading.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’d like to see more spontaneous engagement, side sims starting and picking up random crew members. Odd and interesting things can come from that, I think the ship could benefit from it.

Executive Officer: Silke Fahl

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Like last month I’d like to start my report with a general overview:

Even though we had more AWOLs in May than in April (7 compared to 2) and 2 LOAs (compared to 1), our overall posts have doubled from 69 to 143. Of those posts 126 were IC posts, which means that IC posts have almost tripled as we had only 46 in April. That means that we have been above the average number of posts in May for a slow posting ship and almost everyone was more active than the bare minimum would require. Huge thank you to everyone for that!

We also had a few changes in various positions in May. Kieron Hoult joined us as our new Counsellor Patrick “Paddy” McMillan on May 17. Nick V resigned as our Chief Science Officer on May 20 and Trinity Fister joined us on May 23 with their character Visrian Parr to be our new CSO. We also have a new Chief Medical Officer, though due to RL the player hasn’t been able to officially join yet. There have been a couple other changes and people joining, but all of that happened at the beginning of June, so I’ll keep that for me next report ;)

Another thing on the general update front: Our main sim concluded on May 30 and Jason stepped down as GM afterwards. Thank you Jason for all your work as our GM and for bringing the Asimov safely back into our time and space!
We already know who our new GM will be. A few things just need to be handled behind the scenes first. In the meantime we’ll try to keep everyone busy and engaged through side sims. And with so many new people joining that shouldn’t be too difficult.

All our Department Heads have been active in the main sim and at least one side sim. Though of course as always some are more active than others and we had to sent out a few reminders to people that they should post. But overall I’m not concerned. The new players seem to be settling in very well and all of them are engaged in at least one thread.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We currently have only one Junior Officer and I am hoping that we’ll find a few more people who’d like to join us. He was active in the main sim and as an Engineer helped to move the sim forward and get the ship fixed alongside our Chief Engineer.

Who is the shining star this month? I’d like to spotlight James Sinclair as our Chief Engineer Lieutenant Si’Rek. He not only did a great job to get the ship fixed, but also has been very active in various side sims; including showing my XO’s daughter Engineering and answering all her questions.

Gamemaster: Jason Lee

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The sim has come to abrupt end due to lack of interest in the sim.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? No one – the sim has ended. I am resigning my position as Gamemaster of the USS Asimov.

FComm’s Comments: Sim ended a bit abrupt but ship home and in system for nee GM arrival. Side sims going pretty well. Lots of posting and activity.
Working to get new CMO activated asap. New GM arriving in June (with luck)
Ship in fairly good health overall. LOAs being monitored.

James Sinclair nominated for Starship Trooper for May (CE Lt Si’Rek)

SS Bonaventure

Commanding Officer: Melissa Aragon

How is your ship looking overall? We’re doing pretty good. Couple AWOL but we are handling them.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I can’t think of a favorite moment this month. The sim is a bit slow but finally picking up. Hopefully lots of ‘faves’ to choose from next time.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. We need to pick up the Sim. Also debating opening any of the swing characters to get new blood in. Need to get pace up first or no one will join lol

Executive Officer: Steve Johnson

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Eh. Overall things have really slowed down recently on the ship. The DH’s are posting, but with everyone on the surface we don’t have any side simms going. Hopefully things will pick back up soon, and it will get people posting more often.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Same. Overall it’s been a slow month with everyone being busy. Hopefully things will speed up as people get some more free time.

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The civilian side landing party are making headway in plans to rescue a nearby ESD officer whether they’ll get there in time or not is still up in the air

The military base landing party is regrouping and planning to likely return to the abandoned base for another look see

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? It was a group effort overall on everyones part really

FComm’s Comments: Sim going well, though a tad slow (partially COs fault in the Civ Side ((me))) But should pick up again this month.
Could AWOL that are being handled. Otherwise, ship in relatively good health.
Looking to fill in roster, and pick up sim this month.

USS Leviathan

Commanding Officer: Sharon Miller

How is your ship looking overall? Captain’s Log - May

And I have done a hellish thing.

For nigh on a year has the Leviathan roamed the quadrant in search of dangerous and troublesome anomalies. But in all of that time, what I have come to realise is, it is not the peril inherent in these creatures, their customary lust for violence and the catastrophic number of crew casualties that every mission delivers, that keeps sleep from my door every night. It is the looming void of the unknown, the gloomy corner around which none can glimpse what lies in wait, the inky hole whose contents can barely begin to be surmised. It is the vague and seemingly unconquerable mission for which none could ever be fully prepared.

Roebuck shared with us what he could - a few snatches of video footage, horrific scenes of starship captains scared out of their wits, mumbling of rogue and invading entities and curious diseases. And the co-ordinates of a void that has so far swallowed two ARU starships.

Stands to reason that the ARU would order the Leviathan headfirst into that very same void!

Captain Zachariah Cobb

-*-

Another low activity month from me in May, due to a very hectic work month and some other personal stuff. That coupled with an LOA from the XO resulted in a vastly quieter board than we’ve grown used to. We still made 276 posts so we’re hardly battling tumbleweed, but I do expect June to be a vast improvement with both myself and Jake back in action.

Storyline wise, our main anomaly encounter, ‘Year of Hell’, has finally kicked off, with the Leviathan now en-route to the Alini system to study a spatial anomaly that has already swallowed two previous ARU ships. Meanwhile our CoS, Leonora V, continues to lay groundwork for the main action of her own anomaly encounter, ‘Deep in the Underworld’, with the rescue team all assembled and prepped and very close to setting out.

In terms of the roster, we lost Dave Eads, Ffion Grace and Tom Shore to the demands of real life, but gained two fantastic, established writers in Hjortur Ingi and Sam Pennington, both of whom are already settling in nicely on this most curious of ships. There are a few more players I am interested in contacting, but we are pretty close to being full up once again.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? James Sinclair’s Breen RTF Chief has been busy training their operatives and this post between Vonn and Luna, wherein the Chief attempts to teach the winged security officer the subtle art of sniping, has been truly enjoyable to read!
https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/leviathan/posts/132540/

Spotlight:
Trinity Fister has long been one of my favourite writers in the club, and her cognitive researcher, Tal Abara, is no exception. Joining Cobb and Logan on their holodeck ‘murder mystery’ adventure, I’ve enjoyed her character’s enthusiasm for the game and perceptive insights into the various suspects. And next month I’m looking forward to seeing her get more involved with the anomalies alongside her one time dear friend and former captain!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. For next month, I hope to get into the heart of the action on both of our anomaly encounters and my recruitment drive will continue to try and bolster our JO and consultant researcher ranks.

Vacancies:
We remain open for anyone interested in joining the Leviathan for this new and darker chapter. We have room for JO’s in engineering or medical and could definitely use some more RTF Operatives as we prepare to head into battle.
Please contact myself (Commodore Raven) or Jake (Capt Narwhal) if you would like to know more.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Self sim ship (No GM report)
No XO report.
Ship in good health and moving along on sims. Looking forward to upcoming review and seeing more.

USS Manhattan

Commanding Officer: James Sinclair

How is your ship looking overall? The ship looks very good right now. We are between sims, but should be starting the next one’s discussions with the GM soon. Character development has been surprisingly active in the off time with multiple side sims concerning multiple crew and even some overlap between stories that has been exciting and fulfilling to read.

Promotions are ongoing, and will be wrapping up in the next week or two.

And for the month of May, the Manhattan broke the thousand post mark with 1,151! I think that is a new record for the ship. A good deal of the credit for that goes to Jennifer Ward, our new Diplomatic Attache; and to D Grisham, our dedicated Counselor. Their character driven side sims have been a joy to read and participate in.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? My favorite moment has been the issue with XO and his problematic coat. It happens in our promotion thread found here:

https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/manhattan/posts/134360/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Looking forward to seeing the start of the new Sim within the next month.

Executive Officer: Steven Sigle

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The DHs have been fantastic, the main sim is over so slower than normal but the awards have been keeping them busy.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The same can be said pretty much of the JO’s, sim is over so everyone is finding their niche’ to fill.

Who is the shining star this month? I wanna give a shout-out to Kate O’Neill, whose disapproval of her fiances, Ardashir “Jack” Creed, choice of wardrobe (think space pimp) has made for some excellent side sim banter.

Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: No sim a happening .. yet. The sim has ended and the crew has been amazingly prolific in side sims and promotions. I’ve got a sim set up and ready to launch shortly by the name of ‘Vendetta’.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Sim finished and Awards sim keeping folks engaged as well as side sims. RECORD number of posts. ((Great job Manny))
