It is with the saddest heart I post tonight on command. Steven Sigle has passed on due to complications from COVID on July 29th, 2021. I like the rest of you are stunned and probably in shock. Words can not express the loss many of us will feel. Steven was quick to laugh, first to make you smile when you were feeling down, and at times drive you crazy with his stubborn streak. I used to say to him all the time that the world was a better place because he was in it. Now we will have to settle for knowing that he is watching out for us from above.

Commodore Steven “Darth Tadpole” Sigle joined the site on April 13, 2005. Throughout his time here on STF, he was highly active in the club serving as Personnel Director, Assistant Personnel Director, Fleet Commander, Assistant Fleet Commander, EGO, Newsletter contributor, and Awards Coordinator. He was also the Captain of the USS Odin which coincidentally was the perfect ship reflecting his love of the Marvel Universe. While he wrote many different characters across many ships in his years here, Commander Jacen Drayke of the USS Atlantis is one of the longest continual play of a single character in STF history.

His dad described Steven as a spiritual-minded, intelligent man that deeply cared for people. I don’t think I could have described him better. I have spoken with his family about ways to pay your respects. Due to the sudden and unexpected circumstances, they are still trying to come to terms with Steven’s loss. Steven’s family is holding a private funeral so they have asked for you to post any condolences you wish to send to the family in his email. If you don’t have it you can use his contact button which goes to his main email. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/profile/ssigle/

Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. I will forever carry Steven in mine.

The news of Steven’s passing saddens me greatly and leaves me at a loss for words. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and kids, his family and all those who loved him. He will be missed and his loss will be felt greatly.

Dave Shotton
XO Odin

He was a pleasure to write with, a good friend to talk with, and had a humor that will be missed more than I can say. I wish peace for his family.

James Sinclair
CO, Manhattan

I did not know Steven outside of his writing and contributions to STF but he was amazing to write with and his talent will be missed. He was always around to help anyone who needed it. My thoughts and condolences to his family.

Jennifer Ward
CO, Viking

My deepest, deepest condolences to Steve’s family and friends. This is a tragedy. He and his loved ones will be in my thoughts.

Nathan Miller

Like everyone, I will mourn and miss him. He taught me so much and was ever ready even for last minute, late and (in my mind) stupid questions.
My heart felt blessings to his family. He will be sadly and surely missed.

All my love to eternity… Melissa the Mobstress

I am beyond stunned to hear this. Steven has been a part of this club for as long as I can remember and we did some wonderful writing together years ago on OED V. My heat goes out to his family and his friends and to everyone who knew him.

For what I could experience with Steven, I can say he was a real gentleman and fine writer. I learned, like many, a lot from him. This sudden loss was a shock to me, who I had almost felt to tell him of my return aboard the Odin in the next days…
I wish him to find happiness and a fine crew up there, to guide them among the stars, perhaps reaching where no man has gone before.

He was a magnificent Captain, but foremost a sweet man. You’ll be missed, Steven.
Condolences to his family and to all friends, STFers and not.

Your CSO and friend, Jay Luistro
Ex Astris Scientia

Even after sleeping on this I’m still in shock over this unexpected loss. It’s difficult to think of how hard this must be hitting those closest to him. Steven brought great joy and a tremendous amount of effort to contributing to our community that will be greatly missed.

Adam W.

My condolences to his family and friends. Sad to be closely hit like this he will be missed.

Robert Archer

This is a tremendous shock and a terrible loss. Condolences to his friends and family. I didn’t interact with him often, but he was always a delight. Steven will be missed.

-Sam Pennington

This is terrible news. My thoughts and prayers for Steven’s family, friends and those who knew him best.

In talking with Lindsay, we have decided to plan a celebration of life for Steven on September 25. We will provide details at a later date.

Kate

I’m sorry to hear about this tragic loss both for our community and his family. My thoughts go to his family and if anyone here needs/wants someone to talk to then reach out at your convenience.

Matt

I had the honor of roleplaying with Steven very early on during his STF career, when he started that exceptionally long-running Jacen Drayke on the Atlantis in early 2006, and I was so thrilled to be assigned to the Odin when I returned to STF a couple of years ago, excited to see a friendly, familiar face. My thoughts go out to his loved ones as they navigate this unexpected loss.

I am so sad by this news. Thank you for sharing it with us, Kate, I know you and Steve were very close.

Commiserations to you and Steve’s family, who I know he loved very much.

Russell

Steve joined the club very shortly after I did in the spring of ‘05. I’ve known him the entire time I’ve been in STF and he was always a warm & kind soul. He will be dearly missed by all those who have been honored enough to call him a friend. It was he and Kate that convinced me to make my only run for Club President, for that I am eternally grateful for the care and support in that endeavor as well as the joy of RPing on various ships him over the last 15+ years.

He and his family will be in my thoughts & prayers in the days ahead after this damned virus has taken another beautiful soul before their time. Lastly, Kate, I know you and Steve had a unique and beautiful friendship… and my heart hurts for you in your time of loss. You guys were truly a dynamic duo!

Rest well old friend… I wish you Fair Winds and Following Seas

Jerome

God Bless Steve. Loved working with you as the Fleetcom all those years. So sad to see you cross but happy to have known you. Fare thee well.

Sidney
