The Meridian Fleet Report - June 2022

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

How is your ship looking overall? Not good overall. A lot of that has to be on me. Recruiting is hard with a job that is requiring 110% all the time. Also though the influx of new players is low. Old players come back only to leave because you did not provide with enough to do or they just thought they had it in them and didn’t. New players seem to need far to much attention than in the past with them basically wanting you to set up a whole thread for them and if you do not then they leave.

Listen as I said this is mainly on me. However the sim seemed over as well and now is heading in a new direction. Its not a bad direction either but I think this also killed interest a little with some kind of ready to move on. For me I like it but I have to recognize it may have confused some players.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Honestly its not easy because we just are not that active. The new CNS did well with a weird and tricky situation I set up for him.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Filling positions but with my RL schedule that will really be hard to do.

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? We’re in rough shape. For the second month our posting is way down. We need DHs who have a role and the crew to post. Another problem is we have 6 crew and the GM, 4 are within limits. So that will as clearly as anything tell you where we are right now, which is a stunning, dramatic turn around.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Brian A. Olinski had gone to the aid of a Tholian ship being attacked by the Breen. The Tholian ship was a new model and was fleeing the attacking Breen when it strayed near the Federation border. The Breen proclaimed that by aiding the Tholians, the Federation had declared war on the Breen. The Breen government denied knowledge of such a group of Breen fighters. However, a fleet of Breen fighters were heading towards the Federation. Together with two other ships, the Olinski managed to defeat and capture one of the Breen fighters. To their surprise, Xindi-insectoids were discovered under the masks of the Breen.

A new mission was given to the Olinski. The crew were to patrol and reconnoitre Xindi space to see what The Xindi were up to.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Reached out to CO as well as President. Looking to see if we can save the ship.
Will help continue recruiting search. Will see what comes from discussions.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

How is your ship looking overall? It is great! We are stealing a Romulan bird-of-prey now.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? All. Especially the Side SIMs where they do a lot of Character building.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Need Security, Science and Engineering Jo’s.

Executive Officer: Trinity Fister

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We had a few LOAs and AWOLs toward the beginning of the month that led to a lull in DH posting until mid-June. Although we saw a few posts to the MainSIM, most were in sideSIMs, so we’ll be encouraging more involvement and progression throughout July. That said, I am routinely impressed by the creativity of our DHs in and out of character!

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We welcomed new crew to the Chernov this month. River joined us with Lt. Serral Echei, a Vulcan-Betazoid cyberneticist with a knack of prostheses, and Matt returned with En. Evelyn Carter, a security officer eager to get her hands dirty. Welcome aboard!

There were a few AWOLs in mid-June that, like the DHs, were quickly resolved. We saw a bump in posting to the MainSIM, where they had to opportunity to get to know each other before embarking on the next mission, and continued engagement in sideSIMs that reveal to us the depth of their characters.

Who is the shining star this month? I don’t have a specific spotlight this month, but keep up the great work!

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: 13 of 15 threads in last month were side Sims. Working with CO, XO to see about more main sim participation. AWOL and LOAs seen controlled and command crew informed.

Will work on more main sim participation this month.

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Jerome Davis

How is your ship looking overall? Things are starting to look up on the Odin. After a rough couple months of slow progress, the activity on the ship is starting to pick up and we also added several new crew. Looking forward to a good month ago!

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Seeing the Away Team missions start to get underway! It’s been a bit to get to this point and I’m excited to see what’s next!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.More JOs, all the way around. I think with more JOs, the Odin would be even more lively

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Odin was sent to Tammoron because of a crisis between the government and the grain farmers. Tammoron grain is well known in the Federation. Once there, it was revealed that there were two factions in the farming camp. There was a younger and more progressive group that had received help from the largest land owner on the planet. The other was a group that favoured the more traditional ways of farming and trading. The former was led by a man named Kino and the latter was by the recently deceased Prox. Kino was supported by a man named Tracer. Prox’s daughter took over her father’s role. Prox was an old hand and was familiar with the ways of the government and was usually successful in negotiations with the governor. Traditionally, the government handled the trade of Tammoron grain. Kino was more in favour of cancelling the government’s involvement and wanted to deal with the traders directly. When the Odin arrived at Tammoron, the two factions were at odds with the governor, although the governor had expressed that there were no big problems. The other thing was that Prox’s daughter, Diana, was missing.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: No known reason for missing XO report.

Will see if we can help get more Jo writers. But ship seems to be bouncing back.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: No reason given for no reports.
Haven’t heard from anyone despite reminders sent.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: Matt Bongiorno

How is your ship looking overall? As expected with the recent holiday, we have had several crew members on LoA this past month. There are no AWOLs currently as one of our strengths is staying on top of those. Sam and Trinity had to step away from the Sentinel due to real life obligations, which is understandable. The rest of the ship has been active in both main and side sims this past month. I would like to see the main sim conclude by the end of this month if possible. We filled our CMO position that came open with Adrien, we feel he will do a wonderful job in the role and he seems to be excited about having the opportunity as well. The Sentinel is looking solid overall for the month of June.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? My favorite moment his month was promoting Adrien to CMO. It is always nice to be able to grow from within the Sentinel as opposed to outside of it when possible. I look forward to the promotion ceremony coming in July.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I would like to see us finish up the main sim by the end of the month.

Executive Officer: Nicole Cline

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We had Trinity step down as CMO but have already filled the role with Adrien. The DHs have been involved in the main sim and we are working on some side sims.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have a few LoAs but overall we are seeing decent activity. The main sim is moving a little slowly, we are working on keeping it moving. There are a few side sims going on, I would like to see a little more activity.

Who is the shining star this month? Adrien Jouve with his doctor Alwyn Yarwood has been fantastic. I am highly impressed with his knowledge of alien physiology and his posts are always fantastic.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Sentinel team is in two major teams, team ‘2’ as it once was called is currently up north of Valiki in Barovia trudging through the Slavich Woods, with night falling they may be returning to the safety of the ship soon though. team ‘3’ as it once was called is currently chowing down and relaxing and info gathering in Barovia Village with the locals, the CO is currently in quiet contact with the Sentinel to get a progress update.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Sentinel is picking up. Filled DH position quickly. Posting going well.

Will assist as we can with coming month to make it stronger in posting.

Well done to Adrien Jouve with his doctor Alwyn Yarwood. Writing is great. Slid into new role very well. Congrats and welcome.

Will be focusing on Olinski in coming weeks to see if we can salvage her and bring back to life.

Unsure why no reports from Saracen despite reminders.

Will continue working rest of the Fleet to bring up main sim posting and fill in additional personnel.
