The Foremost Fleet Report - June 2022

USS Ark Angel

Commanding Officer: Robert Archer

How is your ship looking overall? Overall the Ark Angel is doing splendidly! The current main sim just wrapped up, and the current crew are side simming in places and I got one of our traditional post-sim parties getting going too on the ship to involve people. We got a few LOAs coming up for folks due to real life but nothing too major. My XO Sam has also stepped back due to real life so I’m working to look for a new XO. If anyone has someone they thinks will be an asset for me let them know to contact me!

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Get an XO! I also want to if possible clean up the roster a bit to minimize awols/loas etc on the ship.

Executive Officer: No report submitted - Position vacant at time of report. Has since been filled.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Ark Angel’s sim is complete and they have returned safely to Starbase 243 for some R&R and to ready for their next mission

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? For all the pain I gave him these two past months, Kirt Gartner has been a real trooper putting up with the blob mayhem against his PC Miz’uki

FComm’s Comments: The AA is looking good this month, a new XO is in process of being brought onboard and the new sim is ready to start shortly. A lot of good posting happening despite the slowing down from the main sims end. Good effort all round.

AFComm’s Comments: So far as I can tell, the Ark Angel is healthy and chugging along. While she is between sims, I expect another one will be launching soon. The ship, as of the time of my log is still in need of an XO. All other core DH positions seemed to be filled. The Ark Angel, as always, is accepting new people, and there always seems to be a lot going on on this ship.

USS Asimov USS Rabid Pelican

Commanding Officer: Sam Pennington

How is your ship looking overall? We’re doing pretty well. The main sim is moving into its next phase and even as the GM is on LOA, the crew is maintaining activity very well. Unfortunately, we did lose our XO. We were able to bring in Matt B, but Silke will be missed.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The way the senior staff meeting ended was full of great characterization and made me really proud of the crew. Can’t pick just one post from that thread. Everyone was on top of it.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I would like to see the same amount of side simming when the GM is posting regularly as when he’s on LOA.

Executive Officer: Matt Bongiorno

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?I have just been assigned as XO to the Asimov. The ship looks solid with no AWOLs, side sims moving forward, and the main sim is active. I look forward to providing more descriptive feedback as I get settled on the Asimov in next month’s report.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?No JOs are currently AWOL.

Who is the shining star this month? I do not have one for this month as I have just joined the Asimov. I will provide this in next month’s report.

Gamemaster: No report submitted - Excused due to being kidnapped in non-online life aka LOA

FComm’s Comments: the Azzy is doing well this month, a new XO has hit the ground running and there’s some great posting happening with the main sim and some side sims. There’s some excellent character development happening too. The chief science officer position is currently in talks about being filled. Could definitely use some JOs.

AFComm’s Comments: Even for a slow ship the Asimov seems to be chugging right along. High posting rates, with a lot of great writers. Side sims could possibly use a minor boost, but so far we have a number going on, including some of the senior office playing some social games. The Asimov is a smaller ship, being a brazen-class destroyer and about the same size as the Defiant-class from DS9, with only the most Spartan accommodations. The crew seem to be doing a bang-up job of making the best of it in unique ways.

Thankfully we have a new XO that should hopefully be up to speed in the next few days and ideally fully briefed IC and OOC as to the ship, crew, and the details in total of the sim.

The Asimov is still in need of a chief science officer, though perhaps not mission-critical for this operation. Things are about to heat up in the main sim as the ship proceeds to engage in a little casual piracy, perfect time for any security/tactical, or operations folks to jump aboard. Or perhaps someone to sidekick around sickbay with the irrascable Doctor Ryley.

USS Leviathan

Commanding Officer: Sharon Miller

How is your ship looking overall? Captain’s Log - June

They say you can never keep an old dog down. Or is it that an old dog cannot learn new tricks? Or maybe old dogs should just be taken outside and shot. Either way I, Captain Zachariah Cobb, have clawed my way out of the abyss and back to my beloved Leviathan. She remains mostly as when I left, although the terror of the Alini encounter forced some changes to her crew. My disappearance earned appropriate punishment from the ARU - six months solitary at Hades, including a rotation on the Crow’s Nest. But finally captain and vessel are united once again and ready to throw off our restraints. Anomaly loading, I am told, is almost complete - although what denizens of Gre’thor we shall be sharing our beds with, only time and the gods will tell!

But I am buoyed by several meetings with my new crew, an intriguing and competent bunch. I feel confident that they will, each one, prove worthy in the turbulent times ahead. I only wonder if I, as their captain, will have more success this time around at keeping them all alive.

Captain Zachariah Cobb

June was a fantastic month for me on the Leviathan, because I returned as her CO! My thanks to Matt for keeping her in one piece and also to Calé and Sam for entrusting me with her once again. Also thank you to Nathan who has already proven to be a keen XO, with some great ideas for the future of the ship.
In terms of activity, we made 124 posts in June which is decent enough considering the upheaval that always comes with a change of CO, plus the fact that a couple of key positions had been vacant. Those positions have now been filled, with Leonora V returning as our CoS/RTF Commander and James Gray stepping up as CE. All other crew have, I am happy to report, not run away following my arrival and have been getting stuck in and making some excellent posts.
Sim-wise, we have three main storylines running right now - on the promenade deck of Starbase 237 Cobb is holding a meet and greet with the new crew to get to know them; our XO, Nathan, is in the opening stages of his own anomaly encounter; and Amanda Mercer is about to cause havok with a curious plant that seems to have a taste for human flesh. Feed me, Seymour!

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? So as a vehicle to get to know the new crew a little better, I set up meet and greet threads for each department to chat to Captain Cobb. And every one of them has been brilliant so far, with some truly enjoyable reactions to their new, grizzly CO and his penchant for whiskey. But the engineering thread with our new CE, James Gray, has been a highlight, with James sprinkling in several mentions of new ARU tech, as well as the surprise return of a deadly but intriguing foe!
https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/leviathan/posts/178098/

Personal spotlight: I can honestly say I’ve been impressed with every single player onboard, I’m blessed with a complement of outstanding writers once again. But special kudos must go this month to Amanda Mercer, whose creativity in inventing a new anomaly for us with the viciously green Audrey has really impressed.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Next month I expect to still be bedding in and getting to know people, but I’d also like us to move out from the starbase and into a new mission so that the crew can get a taste of the true power of the Leviathan and I can see how they all fare against the creepy and the unknown!

We still have room for JO’s in all departments and are always interested in ideas for creative swings, so if you want to join us on our dark, creepy and very very dangerous adventures then drop an email to either myself or XO, Nathan, and we can talk about bringing you onboard.

Executive Officer: Nathan Miller

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The Levi rocking and rolling with the return of Sharon to the center seat! The DHs are all engaged in lengthy threads and it’s great to see the writing sprout from such creative minds. We’ve picked up a couple of new DHs and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?JOs are engaged as well, writing and playing at a good level.

Who is the shining star this month? I want to highlight Amanda Mercer and her science JO Lieutenant Alison Kane this month. Her posts with sentient/telepathic plant Audrey have been fun, engaging, and have included multiple crew members, making them something to look forward to.

Gamemaster: No report submitted - Because they don’t exist. Given the nature of the Levi I fully expect a random report to be submitted from the ghosts of GMs past one of these days.

FComm’s Comments: The Levi have done a great job climbing back to health with Sharon taking over as CO and her and Nate working to get the open positions filled. There’s been some great posting happening and despite a few AWOLs and LOAs the ship has done more than its minimum posting for the month. The IC transition is playing out nicely and I can’t wait to see what is in store once a main story line gets started. JOs are needed so come on and sign up! Well done to Sharon and the whole crew.

AFComm’s Comments: First of all, I would like to welcome Sharon back to not only the club but the Leviathan. And so far she has been an inspiration to have back.

The ship looks and seems healthy and thriving. As of this report there’s a little red in the roster, but nothing concerning. Lots of posts and threads all over the place. We’re so happy to see the Leviathan swimming strongly among the stars once more.

With a healthy roster full of great writers, if you wanted to get into the creepy, spooky, scary side of Starfleet, now is a great time with a hapless victim er Junior Officer.

USS Manhattan

Commanding Officer: No report submitted - Report excused, LOA again…we await a ransom note…and hope they take payment in bamboo cookies.

Executive Officer: Jennifer Ward

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have a few outstanding AWOLs that we are working through getting resolved. Putting those aside our DHs are active in the sim and with a potential away misison in the works things should pick up.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our JOs are super active and I’m excited to see them as they work their way through not just their check-ins and side sims but finding ways into the main sim. Again with an away mission coming up, there will be more for everyone to do.

Who is the shining star this month? For our writer of the month: I have really enjoyed this side sim (https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/manhattan/posts/177270/) for our new Diplomatic trainee. Reil Adami (Played by Yvonne Sephiran) is confident and eager to learn. It is a unique position she’s filling and is doing amazing at it.

Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Manhattan has experienced two separate waves of an unknown energy that in both instances affected time and space .. a star becoming a red giant and back again, a mysterious alien race from the ‘Crimson Hegemony’ appearing and attacking the ship but at that moment winked out of existence as another wave passed. Some crew had mysterious aging changes in the process . Two perished, but most looked to be only a difference of a few years plus or minus. From the second wave they managed to triangulate to this world which, when arrived, finds it mostly desolate but for a single city.

After a period of trying to make contact, a computer responded, warning them away in stating that the planet, called Marilia, was under ‘temporal quarantine’, whatever that was. After being scanned by an advanced technology, they were hailed by one Marilian named Kela, self identified as a priestess adept. She indicated as well that they should not be there and were in danger of the ‘time wash’, and was surprised that they had survived the ‘time slip’, whatever those terms were, but invited the Manhattan crew down.

Currently they are working out the logistics of this and where to park the ship and who to take down to the Marilian city. In sickbay, two of the affected crew NE’s and the counselor are trying to work out a possible cause of how this wibbly wobbly time stuff happened anyway. Some of the questions they were bringing up were whether the ship could land or come under the cover of the modest shielding over the city, whether what happened to them moved them in time or space or both or neither, and whether the Marilian City had a good hot dog stand. Well, okay, I’m curious about that as the Wookiee is craving hot dogs so chances are pretty good in that regard.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? I’d say Jennifer Ward, our good XO has been a force to keep things moving and people involved. Good job!

FComm’s Comments: The Manhattan has slowed slightly this month with some AWOLs and LOAs but the command team are working on this and the ship posting is still above the minimum standard expected for its posting speed. Those posts that are happening are of great quality and worth a read for anyone looking for a new ship or some excitement.

AFComm’s Comments:Following on with Jennifer’s report, there are a few concerning AWOLs but I trust the command team will get it resolved and bring the ship back into parity.
Overall the posting rates are falling within acceptable margins for a standard pace ship. While she has a full roster, a few more JO’s would never hurt. however this ship is not for those particularly new to the club and fresh out of the Academy.

There seem to be a number of ongoing side-sims, but as always more along with the Main Sim would be appreciated.

Overall the Manhattan seems to be floating along.

USS Memorial

Commanding Officer: No report submitted - Excused as a result of more kidnapping, this may be a related incident. Imma call Intell for some help.

Executive Officer: Nicholas Villarreal

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The DHs are all posting within AWOL limits or notifying us of LOAs. For the most part, everyone is only posting in the main sim, although there have been a couple of posts otherwise. The posts are moving the story forward, and they do add to the overall experience on the ship. Our official Chief Engineer is technically inactive, but we have already found a replacement, and are simply waiting for a chance in character to promote the replacement.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Both of our JOs have been posting. Our Engineering JO is set to become our new Chief Engineer when the story allows for it, and is participating well in the main sim. Meanwhile, our Medical JO regrettably does not have an opportunity as of yet to join the main sim, but it has not stopped him from posting in relevant side sims for the moment.

Who is the shining star this month? Mika Jackson as Lt. (j.g.) Jhalae Ynuchausti, our soon-to-be CE, has done well this month.

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The USS Memorial was dispatched to investigate a stray distress signal from a Starfleet base abandoned some decades prior. Upon landing at the site, they discovered a group of automatons serving a strange man who calls himself King. Something’s rotten on Eridion…

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Sam H, as Maria Beckett

FComm’s Comments: The memorial is struggling a little this month. Posting is only happening in the main sim and there is limited side sims happening. The command team are on top of this and we have been Chatting about plans to help turn things around. What the ship could really use is some JOs so if you’re looking for a slow paced ship where you can get in on a ground point and build up your character this is an amazing opportunity.

AFComm’s Comments:The Memorial is not doing as well as we would like to see this month, with low posting numbers and low side-simming. The Main Sim is crawling along with the ground away team split split between two locations. The Combat Aerospace Patrol has been forgotten.

Hopefully, the situation with the King will resolve or come to a head in short order.

Objectives for the next month - Let’s see if we can’t get some more side sims and engagement going. The Memorial is open to everyone, and could use a ship’s counselor, as well as JO’s in virtually all departments, including the small fighter corps included in her mission package.

SS Bonaventure

Commanding Officer: Melissa Aragon

How is your ship looking overall? We are doing fairly well. Everyone’s settled into this incredible sim and we’re having a ball figuring it out.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’m going to be stepping down as CO so my hope for next month is that the ship remains a happy, healthy place to play.

Recommendation is for my XO without whom I could never have made it through the last year!!

Executive Officer: No report submitted - Excused this month

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Bonnie has made slowish progress this past month, partly due to the CO and XO both having gone awol/loa a few times this month, that said efforts are being made to clean things up and those still on the ship have mostly been active main sim wise. Though even there awols/loas have plagued the good Bonnie. Sim wise the crew has finally met up with all of the seeming impossible survivors of the 2003 era Orbital Shuttle Columbia which in 2003 had been lost with all hands and the shuttle. But here somehow they are alive and well and though the orbiter is rusted and a bit damaged from the passage of time still mostly intact. Further scans show these 7 survivors are matching their known ages in 2003, as is the orbiter. More information needs to be found out to figure this impossibility out!

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: The Bonnie has been slow this month but still posting over the minimum standard expected of a ship it’s pace. There’s little to no side simming happening which is contributing to this alongside some AWOLs and LOAs. We also say goodbye to Melissa who has steered the ship for a number of years as CO. A huge thank you for her work and effort with the ship. Her replacement River has some big shoes to fill but Sam and I are confident she’s going to be great as the new CO and there will be some great changes happening shortly in the transition. Stay tuned.

AFComm’s Comments: It is with heavy heart that the Bonnie is saying goodbye to Melissa Aragon sitting center chair. However, we welcome River taking over. It’s a big chair to fill, but with Roach, Panda, myself, and Steve Johnson around to work with and get help from, she’ll more than be up for the task.

Overall the Bonnie is chugging along with acceptable amounts of posts in the last month for a slow ship. However, I am disappointed to see effective zero side-sims. Side-sims are a staple to operating the ship. Not everything can focus solely on the A Plot.

While the Bonnie does not currently accept new/green members, she could stand the addition of some junior crew. Perhaps now is a good time for a few intrepid explorers to get their hands dirty aboard the SS Bonaventure in the early days of Starfleet.

Overall comments:

So the foremost fleet is in a period of change and development with new COs, XOs, DHs and all coming in and changes in the ships on the horizon. We are working with the ships that have highlighted some issues this month and look forward to seeing improvements across the fleet next month.
