The Pioneer Fleet Report - August 2022

USS Athena

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

How is your ship looking overall? The sim has stalled up this month, however we are in the works of getting that underway. Our GMT is being given another 30 days to work out the sim. I am hopeful that things will move along for September. Due to that and my own RL issues (a couple LOAs were needed), others have found it difficult to post. We had a total of 174 posts for August. That’s not bad, but I know that our numbers can look better.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I would like to see more posts obviously. The quality of players is definitely there! My hope is that this next month I’ll be posting more and encouraging others to do the same.

Executive Officer: Sam Haynes

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Almost all our DH’s are in the green and posting. The main sim has had less progress than I would hope for, but side-sims have kept at least most of the senior crew busy.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Sadly four out of five JO’s are AWOL or on LOA at the time of this report. However, with our GM being out of touch for quite some time, things have stalled a bit.

Who is the shining star this month? Lindsay Bayes with her incredible posting, both in speed and general quality.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm Comments: I will reach out to the CO as AWOLs are a concern. The crew is doing a great job while adapting to a GMT. There was no post from the GM this month, I will be reaching out to them.
AFComm’s Comments: The Athena, while active, appears to have a GMT that has been AWOL for over a month. However, I applaud the crew for stepping up and keeping busy during their search for a replacement.

USS Atlantis

Commanding Officer: Kate O’Neill

How is your ship looking overall? The ship is doing well for the last month of summer. There are a few AWOL’s but between back to school, last-minute vacations, illness, and work, the whole crew has had one or more of these things to deal with in August. That being said, the crew has done an amazing job of creating engaging, intriguing, and informative posts. There are a few new crew this month and it has been fun getting to know their characters.

The main sim has Kelly and Company leaving Base V and heading out in search of the USS Okudo. The region of space is a no man’s land due to the possible Darkness residing there however when has an alien metal octopus with the power to destroy pretty much anything in its path stopped the intrepid Atlantis crew.

The side sims continue to show a lot of character development and are just plain fun to read and write.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I enjoyed the arrival threads of Christina (Tigress) and Patrick (Sam McIntyre).

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. To continue to try and support the needs of the crew anyway I can.

Executive Officer: Gene Gibbs

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Overall, between JO’s and DH’s we have run into the August holiday time where we have a number of crew who are on LOA and some who have dropped off. Once things shake out with September we will be able to see problem areas but for August, myself included, it was a slower than normal posting time for me. A favorite quote that I have is ‘September is the second January’, so hopefully when school is back and work is back and settled that posting will again settle into a steadier routine. Holidays are great, but often not for posting.

That being said, the active folks are quite active with their side sims and Kate’s side sim which is coming to a close which as been long and dramatic and, hey, kudos to her for her first dive in venture of running this involved of a side story!! I’ll highlight her there this month too for that.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: Luke Hung

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Kelly and the away team are returning back to the Atlantis along with the Endorian Liaison Rose to explore the Bryast System. This region contains the possible crash site of what the crew assumes is the USS Okudo which destroyed by an unknown ribbon of energy about two hundred years ago. This area of space has been an unofficial no man’s land after numerous ships that entered it were destroyed by the Darkness.

There are too many side sims to follow but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

There are a lot of new crew and the check in’s have been informative to read.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm Comments: AWOLs will need to be addressed, however with those who are active the sim is moving right along. Will reach out to the CO.

AFComm’s Comments: A few AWOLS, though it doesn’t appear the sim has been distracted by them. Great job team!

USS Chimera

Commanding Officer: Katherine Dedul

How is your ship looking overall? Overall, I’m very pleased with the ship condition this month. Even with Kirt slowing a little bit due to RL, we are keeping generally busy with side sims and doing what we can to keep things running smoothly.

I am still struggling a little bit with AWOLs, but I do think once we snag a few more people, they will regulate a bit better.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Text messages apparently are still alive and well in the 24 century. I quite enjoyed the brief interaction between my character and that of our returning CAG. Seems my XO is on the receiving end of the classic “Marines versus Starfleet” speech.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I am just hammering out some details with a potential CSO, so my goal going forward is to look to lock down some more JOs as it will lead to more posting opportunities for everyone involved.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: AWOLs will need to be addressed, however, there has been significant improvement on the Chimera over the past few months. Kat has led her team well moving forward past the rough times. XO and GM Reports are not excused this month. Will reach out to them.
AFComm’s Comments: I see some new addition to the crew! Looks like they have a Marine Battalion CO position open, reach out to Kat or Kieron if interested :)

Executive Officer: Lindsay B

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The sim was winding down to an end so any activity there was concentrated in the wrap up thread. Most people made a point of being present even if there wasn’t more required for them but to mingle. We’ve had LOAs and AWOLs much of the month, so side sims have been sporadic.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The same can be said of the JOs as the DHs. We’ll be moving into post-sim ceremony stuff and that will give people direction before the next sim starts.

Who is the shining star this month? After a slower month, Jenn and James flooded the board with a wonderful thread that was at times really funny and also poignant. I am reading along happily. Can’t wait to see if the two character in fact get married or not.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: The activity among those who are active is wonderful however the AWOLS will need to be addressed as soon as possible. I will reach out to the CO to see if they need any assistance. GM and CO reports are not excused. I will reach out to them to make sure they are doing alright. I know real life can have it’s rough patches.
