The Meridian Fleet Report - October 2022

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

How is your ship looking overall? Not good again. I must say I am of the old school that usually if you are failing its leadership. However 2 months or more ago I took the bull by the horns and aggressively recruited and filled the ship with only one key vacancy left. I used a new way of recruiting and it was successful. Posting exploded and things looked up. Now here we are in the same situation. GM on LOA, which I understand, 2 key positions that joined and then had to leave. 1 old position that had to leave.

For me its not the leadership. Its STF. Its not the individual ships that are failing anymore. Its the systems that support them because not enough people. I can recruit again but Im not sure the result will change that much. I am not sure how a Captain who is involved, takes ownership, posts etc can keep these ships running under current rules.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? This month its tough but new CSO and CMO interactions with existing crew. Really great!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Posting and a CAG now again plus a COS who quit for RL and the existing CE position.

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The main sim stalled a bit this month with the GM needing an LOA. With the GM back, there should be more posting to the ship. We also have several key positions to fill which the CO and I are looking for writers. By next month we hope to see the Olinksi back to where she was a few weeks back with posting rates commiserate for a ship of this speed.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: No known reason for no GM report.

The Olinski is slowing again but Sidney is doing a great job. Will work with them this month to see what we can do about vacancies. I believe the ship worth saving, so will do all I can to keep it in flow. It’s unique to the site and an asset. Just need to get her back on a steady keel once more.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

How is your ship looking overall? We are looking real good. A few awols but doing well. The Main Sim is progressing well.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? All of the posts are good. The crew does an excellent job of character building.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Need more JO’s.

Executive Officer: Trinity Fister

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?October brought a boost in activity for the DH team with only a few LOAs and AWOLs due to RL that have since been resolved. I anticipated we’ll see a similar trend this month as we approach the holidays for all crew.

In our MainSIM, the crew has embarked on their mission to Qo’noS, taking the journey as an opportunity to explore their new ship. We’ve seen a few SideSIMs branch from these threads, offering folks more places to post and interact. I’ve especially enjoyed the Sickbay thread between Symar, Kastarak and Taggart.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Aside from the usual RL demands, our JO team continues to be active and engaged.

Too, October brought a bump in MainSIM and related SideSIM involvement for our JOs. We’ve seen mixed up room assignments, mess hall encounters, tinkering with Romulan technology, and new opportunities for some of our crew. It’s been truly rewarding to watch as Pawl Batario (an Engineer) takes a shot at command.

Here’s to another month of wonderful stories for all crew!

Who is the shining star this month? David Robinson Jr plays Lt. Pawl Batario, an exchange engineering officer from Betazed navigating life in Starfleet. He’s a creative storyteller and an absolute delight to have on board! I love reading his threads and look forward to what the future has in store for him and Pawl. Nicely done, David! :)

FComm’s Comments: The Chernov has certainly stepped up and is doing well. Command staff is handling AWOL and LOAs really well. Will work this month to see how we can keep post counts up for holiday season.

USS Saracen

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: No idea why no reports. No communication.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Nicole Cline

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? They are active and doing well if a bit slow this month. Nothing too bad.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The JOs are doing a good job of keeping themselves active and busy. Creating amazing side sims for themselves.

Who is the shining star this month? Our CoS and CMO in the main sim. Their reaction to the XO dealing with old Earth Nobility has been hilarious. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/sentinel/posts/190835/

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Sentinel crew have beamed down to Vok III and are currently deep in talks with the Lord there to help out and run their medical evals

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Haven’t heard from CO. But LOA says in FL helping with Ian storm damage.

Sentinel is holding her own and doing well. Will work this month to see how we can get her boosted to keep up the counts through the holidays.

The fleet is managing, but like the rest, slowing as we come into holidays and school breaks. Will work with all the ships to see how we can maintain at least minimal postings through the holidays. Will also help with vacancies and anyone needing side sim ideas so character building continues.

As for shining stars and awards. There was only one thread nominated for the awards.
The Sentinel thread Main Sim - Vok III - Beaming Down earns them the SHIP OF THE MONTH. Creative all the way around. Good job folks!!
